FÉILE PEILE na nÓG:
The national John West Under 15 Féile Peile na nÓg is a Gaelic football club festival do bhuachaillí agus do chailíní. On Sunday last (16th), our 2010 and 2011 boys continued their preparations for this year’s Féile Peile na nÓg with a trip to the Townland of the Spring Wells (An Fearann Fobhar/Fuar) to play Firies. Twenty boys togged out in the Black‘n’Amber, all of whom contributed to a fine team performance in a game that was played over four fifteen minute quarters. The Féile qualifiers are a mere three weeks away (6ú Aibreán) and, dá bhrí sin, this was a fantastic opportunity for the squad to get more playing minutes and gain familiarity with the new rialacha peile. Mórbhuíochas agus many thanks to Firies and to the referee for an excellent contest that was played in a very sporting spirit. Féile preparations continue with training on Wednesday and on Sunday this week. Painéal na Carraige Faoi 15 v Na Foidhrí: Laochra Faoi 15 na Carraige v Na Foidhrí: Órán Ó Riagáin, Séamus Ó Cianáin, Diarmuid Ó hAonasa, Conchúr Ó Murchú, Liam Ó Suaird, Sé Ó hÓdhráin, Tadhg Ó Luasaigh, Alex Ó Flaithearta, Liam Ó Ciarba, Dónal Ó Laighin, Eliot Calleja, Marc Ó Foghlú, Jayden Ó Dubhda, Dara Ó Muircheartaigh, Tomás Mac Dáibhí, Conchúr Mag Uidhir, Rian Ó Flaithearta, Marc Ó Ríordáin, Noah Ó Riada, Maitiú Ó Murchú. What a great group! (Dan Ahern)
FAOI 16:
(i) Training continued this week with sessions in Connolly Park and on the MTU Astroturf. A core group of the 2010 lads are now embedded with the minor team and they have attended minor training sessions. Thankfully, we have a few boys returning from serious long term ‘outages’ around now and that is very positive news. Our competitive season gets under way on Thursday April 3rd when we’ll play in our first round of the Central League. Time, venue and opponents to be confirmed.
(ii) Sunday next, 23rd March, we will play a challenge game v Firies U16s in Farranfore. So, this will be a great opportunity to see how we get on against one of the top juvenile teams in the county. (Ger Hobbert)
