February 19, 2025 By Tommy Naughton

Compiled by Brian Caball

UNDER 6/7/8 FOOTBALL [BOYS]:
The Rock U6/7/8 football will continue next Sunday morning in Mercy Mounthawk School Hall. The Under 6 boys (born 2019 and 2020) are in action at 10am and the U8 lads (born 2017 and 2018) hit the floor at 11am.

UNDER 10 FOOTBALL:
More Football-For-Fun will take place at 10.50am on Sunday next on the Astroturf at The Green CBS.

UNDER 12 FOOTBALL:
Training for all U12 boys will take place at 9.45am on Sunday on the Astroturf at CBS, The Green.

UNDER 14 FOOTBALL:
Training will take place at 5pm on Wednesdays in the CBS Hall, The Green.

UNDER 15 – CLUB FOOTBALL:
Our Under 15 football panel is working hard in preparation for the upcoming trip to the Nemo Rangers Club, Cork. The Nemo games, the annual Mick O’Brien Tournament, will take place on Saturday March 1st. Táimid ag tnúth go mór leis an lá!

UNDER 15 – COLLEGE FOOTBALL:
Tralee CBS, including Rock players Mark Riordan, Danny Lane, David Ahern, Noah Reidy and Ryan O’Flaherty, are looking forward to their Munster U15A Taft Cup competition final v Coláiste Choilm, Baile an Chollaigh. Good luck to them and to Dale Counihan, joint manager, and Damien McLoughlin, team physio. Go n-éirí go geal leo uile sa chraobhchluiche! Gach ádh ar an bhFaiche!

UNDER 16 FOOTBALL:
(i) We held a great session on Wednesday evening in our new refurbished home gym in Connolly Park. Progress was made on our strength and conditioning programme. Some of our older under 16s stayed on after the session and took part in the minor team session. Well done, boys!
(ii) On Friday we had a good run out and about in the MTU Astroturf pitch.
(iii) On Sunday we hosted the Ballymac U16s for a pre-season challenge match. Nursing numerous injuries and boys missing due to other sporting commitments we had 23 lads togged out for our first U16 ‘new rules’ fixture. What a success! And it was a very good experience for both teams as we all made a huge effort to tried to adapt to the ‘new game’. Overall, we were happy with the performance and with the attitude of our lads despite the 0-1 defeat.

(iv) We have sessions planned again during the coming week and we have another challenge game next Sunday morning the 23rd in Connolly Park v Firies.
