Juvenile Club Notes; 17th September 2025

September 17, 2025 By Tommy Naughton

Compiled by Brian Caball

PEIL FAOI 6:
(i) Our U6 boys will have fun games with the Ardfert U6s in Connolly Park this Thursday (18th) from 6pm to 7pm. (Last week’s inclement weather caused these matches to be rescheduled).
(ii) Training will take again on Sunday morning next (21st) from 11am to 12.00 in CAHERSLEE. ‘Hoping to see you all once again, boys! (Brian Ó Donnchú)

CAID FAOI 7/8:
The football action continues for these age groups at 6pm on Thursday in Connolly Park and at 10.50am on Sunday in CAHERSLEE. (Eoin Ó hÉigeartaigh; Brian Ó Donnchú)

PEIL FAOI 9/10:
(i) And we’ll have still more U10 Football-for-Fun in CAHERSLEE at 10.50am on Sunday.
(ii) This Wednesday (17th) our U10s will play GoGames in Castleisland with the Desmond Club lads.
(iii) Our U9 boys are eagerly looking forward to their trip to Cork on Saturday October 4th to play in the U9 Canty Cup Tournament. Our hosts will be the St Finbarr Club. (Colm Ó Mongáin)

PEIL FAOI 11/12:
(i) We’ll end our season with the promised return visit to An Daingean this Friday (19th); our recent trip back west was most enjoyable, great football was played by both sides agus imríodh an-pheil thiar i bPáirc an Ághasaigh!
(ii) Our Under 11s travelled to Cork last Sunday (14th) for the Dee and Barry O’Leary Tournament at the Na Piarsaigh Club….once again a brilliant outing….and, once again, ní nach ionadh, our boys were the WINNERS. A great victory! Well done, boys and mentors! This was our club’s 42nd visit to the Club na bPiarsach Tournament. (Tim Mac Mathúna)

U11’s after winning the Barry O’Leary Tournament in Na Piarsaigh

CAID FAOI 14:
The following teams competed in the 39th U14 Denis (Dinny) O’Connor Lee Strand Invitational Tournament in Connolly Park on Saturday last: Na Stacaigh, Churchill, Na hÓ Céirín-Ó Rathailligh, Móin a’Lín (Luimneach), Na Piarsaigh (Cork), Na Gaeil, Salthill/Cnoc na Cathrach (Galway), An Ghaeltacht, Nemo Rangers (Cork). Our lads played outstandingly in all their games. Having defeated Churchill and Na Piarsaigh in the group stage, they faced and overcame the John Mitchel Club boys in the semi-final. The final was a great game. The excitement and the tension rose as our Rock braves took to the field for the final match against a brilliant and gallant Monaleen team. Our lads were asked by their manager and mentors to give it their best shot! They did as requested, in front of their home following, and won the coveted Lee Strand Cup. A very happy group of U14 young men left Connolly Park on Saturday last! The Rock Club is bursting with Black ‘n’Amber pride an tseachtain seo! Final score…AdeS: 4-7; Móin a’Lín: 1-4. John Murphy, Operations Manager of Lee Strand Co-Operative Creamery Limited, presented the Man-of-the-Match Award to our own Billy Kirby. Ardfhear, a Liam Uí Chiarba! Player-of-the-Tournament was also a Rock player…Mícheál Ó Cearmada, captaen na foirne…and he received the Lee Strand Cup from Paul O’Connor, son of the late Dinny O’Connor, in whose memory the tournament is named. This most successful tournament was first held in 1986 and was last won by our club in 2016 under the captainship of Shane Bastible. We were due a win again!! See Adriennes’s photographs on our clubs Facebook Page and more by Clicking Here.
Two Kerry teams…Club na Gaeltachta and the Kerins-O’Rahilly Club…contested the Billy Breen Memorial Shield agus bhí an bua ag an nGaeltacht. The Shield was presented to the winning captain, D.Ó Catháin, by Lillian McMahon-Breen, Gavin Breen and Éamonn Scanlan. B’é Tomás Ó Súilleabháin ón nGaeltacht Laoch-an-Chluiche.
Oranmore/Maree of Galway and Nemo Rangers played for the Abie Allen Memorial Plate and the Galway boys were victorious. Their captain, Paddy Fallon, was presented with the Plate and the Man-of-the-Match Award by Paddy Allen (brother of the late Abie Allen).
We say a big THANK YOU to players, mentors, parents and, gan aon agó, the hard-working organisers, caterers and helpers! Another great day at the Rock Club!

PEIL FAOI U16:
(i) The date, venue and time of our Division 2 semi-final will shortly be known. Idir an dá linn, training sessions will continue in preparation for this big upcoming challenge….an dúshlán mór seo atá romhainn! Táimid ag tnúth go mór leis!
(ii) Plans are being hatched to run the Tralee/Naomh Breandán Area championship before the season ends and we hope to enter two teams in this competition.
(iii) Sympathies to our U16 minors who were defeated by Kenmare Shamrocks in the semi-final of the county championship Shield game. You gave it your best shot, boys, agus beidh lá eile ag an bPaorach! (Ger Hobbert)

MINOR FOOTBALL:
Our Rock minors were unfortunate in the Keanes SuperValu County Championship last week v Kenmare Shamrocks. Seamróga Neidín: 3-12; AdeS: 0-12. Comhbhrón!

SEANRÁ EILE:
Ní hiad na fir mhóra a bhaineann an fómhar! It’s not the big men who bring in the harvest! Strength is not everything! ‘Tis often that the small light ‘bread and tay’ boy gets the important goal….cúl an bhua, b’fhéidir!
