PEIL FAOI 7/8/9:
Our Under 7/8/9 footballers will be in action at 11am next Sunday (20th) in Caherslee. October 27th will be our final outing of the season.
PEIL FAOI 11:
(i) Football will again take place in Connolly Park at 10.50am on Sunday next (20th) when the final rounds of our club tournament will be played. The league finals will take place on our final day of the season…on October 27th….a day not to be missed!
(ii) What a great day our boys and their dedicated mentors had at the Dee O’Leary Football Tournament at Club na bPiarsach, Gort Álainn, Corcaigh, on Sunday. Brilliant Rock football was played and what success! We brought home the spoils from Cork-by-the-Lee….we brought down the Dee O’Leary Trophy following an 0-3 victory over the hosts, Na Piarsaigh, in the Cup final. Earlier, in the group stages, we had accounted for Mallow, Youghal and Ballinhassig to set us up for our final tilt. Well done, boys of The Rock! The stars on the day were Jake O’Driscoll, Paudie Hayles, Sebastian Vicente, Rian Murphy, Noah Diggin, Ruane Lawlor, Éamonn Delaney, Corey Aslett, Ruadh Horan, Donagh Hogan, Muiris Collins, Michael Broughton, Brandon English, Ciarán Murphy and Darragh Counihan. ‘Well done’ to the Piarsaigh Club for inviting us and for running a great show.

(iii) No…no football on Thursdays from now on as our season winds down. (Tim McMahon)
CAID FAOI 15:
Tralee Town Shield Final….
AdeS B: 5-10 (25); Na Gaeil B: 3-14 (23) (AET). After a rollercoaster of a match our boys came out on the right side of another epic contest with our near neighbours in Connolly Park on Sunday last (13th). After an energetic and determined opening quarter the young men of The Rock were in a commanding position. Na Gaeil, however, came more into the game in the second quarter, though our boys led by 0-9 ag the break….3-6 to 1-3. Sásúil go maith, a déarfadh duine! A more even 2nd half had the play going to and fro with us having numerous chances to put the game beyond doubt. Na Gaeil, to their credit, stuck to their task though stout Rock defending restricted The Greens to points. Unfortunately, just as it seemed that the Rock boys had the job done, Na Gaeil worked a goal with the last play of the game and, in a whirlwind of excitement, the sides were level….3-8 to 2-11….as the referee tooted and extra time was called. In the 1st period of extra time the drama continued unabated. Once again the Black‘n’Ambers took command with another well-taken goal and all seemed well but Na Gaeil found our net just before half-time. Scór leathama….AdeS: 4-9 (21); Na Gaeil: 3-12 (21). An epic! Could our boys go to the well again in the 2nd period of extra time? Yes/no? The answer was an emphatic yes. A fifth goal early in this period ultimately decided the result of the contest and this time, despite the Killeen lads trying with all their might, the Street of Champions weren’t going to be denied the glory! Delight and relief in equal measure greeted the final whistle. Glory for The Rock! Boisterous celebrations followed the shield presentation by the Tralee Board Secretary, our own John Slattery, to our captains, Conor and Diarmuid. Credit to Na Gaeil in a contest that exhibited all that is best in Gaelic Football. Thanks to the referee and the Tralee Town Board for enabling the game to take place. The boys’ hard work since the 12th January ultimately paid off and they fully deserved their reward. A great end to a long year! The U15 B boys: Oran O’Regan, Conor Murphy (JC), Oisín Cotter, Diarmuid Hennessy (JC), Liam Swords, Ryan O’Flaherty, Alex O’Flaherty, Kyle Yoxhall, Joe de Barra, Dean Courtney, Noah Reidy, Ewan Canty, Eliot Calleja, David Ahern, Joe O’Halloran, Seán McCannon, Nathan O’Connor, Mark Foley, Séamus Keenan, Ryan Moriarty, Ediart Topali, Jayden O’Dowd, Tom Dawson, Conor Hanafin, Tadhg Somers, Killian Coffey. And, so, the curtain comes down on a very successful season….10 months of football activities for all these young men. We hope, in the near future, to host an awards’ night at the club and we’ll present well-deserved and hard-fought-for medals to our players who were victorious in the following competitions: County League Division 2, Central League Division 1, Tralee Town Championship (Shield). A big thanks to everyone who contributed, supported and helped the teams throughout the season. A very sincere and very special thanks to our team of coaches and mentors for their weekly commitment to the group and for their planning and organising activities and sessions. Coaches: Pa Laide, Tim McMahon, Dan Ahern, Eoghan Ó Gealbháin, Ciarán Murphy, Dónal Corcoran and Ger Hobbert. Focal scoir: boys, try to remain active during the off season; continue with ball and skill work and keep putting in the solo miles in preparation for the new season in January ’25! See Adrienne McLoughlin’s photographs that have been posted to FB and to the website gallery. Aililiú! (Dan Ahern, Ger Hobbert)

COLÁISTÍ – CORN AN RUISÉALAIGH:
A goal for The Sem in added time ‘stole’ the Russell Cup from The Green U15 boys. Pipped at the line! It was a great football final but, faraor agus ochón, heartbreak for the Tralee boys who led for most of the game. Briseadh croí! It was played in Fitzgerald Stadium. Scór…Tralee CBS: 4-10; Coláiste Bhréanainn: 4-11. Rock boys on the CBS panel: Mark O’Riordan (3), Danny Lane (13) Ryan O’Flaherty (25), Noah Reidy (27), David Ahern (30). Scóráil Danny Lane aon chúl amháin agus dhá chúilín. The sides will meet again in the first round of the Munster Schools Competition. That’ll be an interesting match and a game worth going to see! (Adrienne Mhic Lochlainn)
