Juvenile Club Notes 16th October, 2023.

October 16, 2023 By Brian Caball

FAOI 7: We hope to see you all next Sunday at 11am, boys!

FAOI 9: (i) Our U9s and their mentors had a great time at the St Finbarr Club Tournament (Canty Cup) in Neenan Park, Togher, Cork, on Saturday last. (ii) We’re back to exciting morning football next Sunday (22nd); it’s our last of the season….Finals’ Day when our youngsters will play with might and mane for the right to bring home the Bracker O’Regan Cup. The atmosphere will be electric!! Everybody welcome to view the skills of our U9s!

ALL-STARS: Everybody is looking forward to next Sunday’s (22nd) training session at 10am in The Green CBS Secondary School. If you and your child would like to be part of our All-Stars group, even at this late time in our season, just come along. Everyone welcome. It is hoped that our activities will greatly help neurodivergent children to connect and flourish while playing football. (Cathal Ó Sé)

FAOI 10/11: (i) The older boys in this group travelled to the Piarsaigh Club (Cork) last Saturday to take part in the Cork club’s annual U11 football festival…the Barry and Dee O’Leary Tournament. A brilliant time was had by all even though our lads were unlucky to be pipped by Iniscarra in the cup final. (Well done, boys, on getting to the final). The hosts, Na Piarsaigh, were defeated by the Brian Dillon Club in the shield final. (ii) This Saturday (21st) we’ll welcome the U11 boys from the Monaleen Club, Limerick. This clash of Black‘n’Amber and Red‘n’White is expected to produce brilliant and exciting football! (iii) The U11 season finishes with the participation of our U10s in the annual John Lynch Memorial Tournament in Connolly Park on Saturday 28th October. (iv) On Sunday 29th October, the following day, the finals of the John Galvin Cup and the Garry Fernane Cup competitions will take place. What a busy season it’s been! (Colm Ó Mongáin)

FAOI 13: Our U13 season has now ended. Thanks to all the boys and parents for their commitment, assistance and cooperation throughout the year. Feedback on the season’s activities would be greatly appreciated by our U13 mentors; all ideas and opinions will be considered and will greatly help in our planning for 2024. Thanks to everybody and in particular to Ciarán Murphy, Donal Corcoran, Ger Teahon, Kieran O’Flaherty, Micko Horan and Tim McMahon. Thanks, again, to the club officers, the field committee, the clubhouse staff and our sponsors, Ned O’Shea & Sons and John Lane & Sons. Yes, 2024 is another year! (Dan Ahern)

FAOI 14/15: Well done, boys, on your outstanding commitment to your team throughout the season; your behaviour was excellent agus bhí sibh lán de cheol agus lán de chraic! Do regular individual workouts as well as the session exercises that we practiced during the season in your own ‘off’ time. And….we’ll stronger next year! We say ‘thank you’ to the U15 coaches for their work and dedication throughout the ’23 season: Theo Ó Duigín (manager), Pa Laide, Frankie Murphy, Ger Hobbert, Ronan Kavanagh, Morgan O Connell. (Ger Hobbert)

THE GREEN: (i) Tralee CBS, under the, played against Coláiste Choilm, Ballincollig, on Monday last (16th) in the semi-final of the Taft Cup (U15A) football competition. ‘Well done’ to our Rock boys on the panel: Eoin Mangan, Danny Lane and Jack Delaney. (ii) The Green senior boys have been scheduled to play Ardscoil Uí Urmaltaigh, Bandon, on Wednesday (18th) in the Corn Uí Mhuirí competition (Grúpa 4). Fingers crossed for Donnacha Horgan, Fionnán Ryan, Thomas Deregee, Ronan Carroll Ryan O’Driscoll and for co-manager Dale Counihan. (see Kerry GAA website). (iii) The Green senior hurlers will challenge Scoil Naomh Pól, Kilfinane, in the quarter final of the Senior B Championship this Friday (20th). Check the school facebook and instagram sites.

MOUNTHAWK: Best wishes to the Mounthawk senior team that was scheduled to take on Coláiste Áth an Chóiste, Coachford, this Wednesday (18th) in the Corn Uí Mhuirí competition (Grúpa 1).

GAELCHOLÁISTE: Bhí bua deas ag iománaithe na scoile in aghaidh Scoil Naomh Eoin Bosco i Rath Caola Dé Luain seo caite. Cúig chúl iontacha a scóráil Darren Ó Briain agus Peadar Ó Dubhghaill and those great scores ‘sealed the deal’ for the Gaelcholáiste’s first hurling win in three years. Bhí Rory Ó Loinsigh agus Gavin Ó Cathasaigh ar an bpainéal. Tá an camán ar ais i gcroíthe na ngaelscoláirí ar deireadh! Comhghairdeas ó chroí libh! (D.Ó Loinsigh)
