Juvenile Club Notes, 16th April 2025

April 16, 2025 By Tommy Naughton

Compiled by Brian Caball

PEIL FAOI 8:
Great football was played once again by our Rock youngsters on Sunday morning last in the Caherslee GAA pitch. The Rock U6/7/8 boys will be in action again at 11am on Sunday next, 13th April. The football keeps getting better! Feicfimid sibh, a bhuachaillí, ar an 20ú d’Aibreán i gCathair Sailí. Fáilte mhór roimh bhuachaillí atá i gClubcheantar na Carraige!

AN CHÁISC:
Easter good wishes and blessings to all our members. Cáisc Shona and don’t eat too many Easter eggs!

PEIL FAOI 10:
More exciting times ahead for these boys!
(i) Football-for-Fun will continue at 10.50am on Sunday next in Caherslee.
(ii) The Rock and Strand Road played very enjoyable GoGames on Wednesday last in Connolly Park….d’imir na buachaillí peil iontach! The next round of GoGames will take place at 6.15pm on Wednesday 23rd at the John Mitchel Club and the ball will be thrown in at 6.15pm.
(iii) On the 27th of April (Sunday) we’ll travel to Dublin to take part in the Kilmacud Crokes’ Under 10 GoGames Festival. (Colm Ó Mongáin)

PEIL FAOI 12:
Training for all U12 boys will take place on Tuesday and on Thursday at 5.45pm in Connolly Park. We look forward to more great games in the next few weeks. Our U12 footballers are motoring! (Tim McMahon)

U12’s in Rathmore Last Sunday Evening

PEIL FAOI 14:
Our two under 14 teams had good wins v Firies on Tuesday last. Outstandingly fabulous heads-up football was exhibited by our talented players….mighty footballers-in-the-making. And the players development continues gan stad gan staonadh! They were scheduled to travel, for the first time, to Finuge on Tuesday to play the locals in their second County League game. Well done, lads! Training continues on Friday evenings and on Sunday mornings and it’s very satisfying to note that good numbers of boys are putting in the hard yards. Ní bhíonn bua gan dua! Yes, these boys are working diligently at their football. Maith sibh, a bhuachaillí na Carraige! (Micko Horan; Jonathan Magnier)

PEIL FAOI 15:
The unlucky U15 Rock boys who played in the recent John West Féile Peile na nÓg: Alex O’Flaherty, Billy Kirby, Blake Bowler, Conor Maguire, Conor Murphy, Danny Lane, David Ahern, Diarmuid Hennessy, Dylan McEvoy, Ediart Topali, Eliot Calleja, Jayden O’Dowd, Joe O’Halloran, Kian Cronin, Liam Swords, Mark Foley, Matthew Murphy, Michael Carmody, Noah Reidy, Oisín Horan, Oran O’Regan, Ryan O’Flaherty, Séamus Keenan, Shea Horan, Tadhg Lucey, Tadhg O’Regan, Tom Dawson. (Ed O’Regan; Dan Ahern)

MEAS AR A CHÉILE:
Our association calls upon to give respect to get respect.

PEIL FAOI 16:
(i) In the Central League (Division 1) in Connolly Park on Thursday April 10th our A Team responded in the perfect manner to the previous week’s setback with an emphatic win over our good Gaeil neighbours. Scór…AdeS: 5-21; Na Gaeil:1-5. Bua cuimsitheach! A flurry of early goals put the home side, that’s us, in control and, thanks to resolute defending, dominant midfield play and clinical shooting, we never relinquished the reins. All twenty players on the panel contributed to an excellent team performance. Next up in Division 1 is a very challenging encounter v the John Mitchel Club U16s. We travel on Thursday 17th April.
(ii) Our B Team boys, who had a bye last week, travel to Killeen on Thursday 17th April to play Na Gaeil.
(iii) Training continues on Sunday and on Tuesday in preparation for Thursday’s two town derbies. Throw-in time: 7pm. Our U16 Rock squad: Barry Laide, Ben Litchfield, Conor O’Regan, Danny Lane, David Hobbert, Denis Brassil, Fionn Cotter, Harry Murphy, Hawlie Cotter, Jack Delaney, Jamie Casey, Joe Barry, Liam Swords, Mark Riordan, Oran O’Donoghue, Ryan O’Carroll, Oran O’Regan, Conor Murphy, Dean Courtney, Diarmuid Hennessy, Eliot Calleja, Jayden O’Dowd, Mark Foley, Nathan O’Connor, Noah Reidy, Ryan O’Flaherty, Séamus Keenan, Seán McCannon Tadhg Somers, Tom Dawson, Oisín Cotter, Joe O’Halloran, Ediart Topali, Eoin Mangan, David Ahern, Darragh Lyons, Alex O’Flaherty, Ewan Canty, Kyle Yoxhall. (Adrienne McLoughlin; Dan Ahern)

SCRÚDÚ BÉIL:
Gach rath, ádh agus dea-ghuí ar na scoláirí go léir a bhfuil baint acu le Scrúdú Béil ag an am seo. Go bhfaighe siad uile marcanna arda!

MINOR NEWS:
(i) Ní raibh an t-ádh linn v Baile an Mhuilinn/Caisleán na Mainge in the Minor Central League match that was played in Connolly Park last week.
(ii) On Monday last, April 14th, we took on An Ghaeltacht i nGallaras i Sraith Láir na Mionúr. Maith sibh, a leaideanna! It’s heartening to see some of our injured players returning to on-field action. Minor training has been ramped up as the evenings are getting longer agus an lá ag dul chun síneadh! Agus nár ardaigh Ruairí Mac Giolla Rua ár gcroí agus ár n-anam? (Aindriú Ó Muiríosa)

GAELTACHT SCHOLARSHIP:
Apply immediately if interested in a partial scholarship to The Gaeltacht? Bain triail as! Some of the cost will be covered by the GAA. For further information contact a club officer or a TDB officer. Nár mhaith leat saoire a chaitheamh thiar i gCorca Dhuibhne?
