May 14, 2025 By Tommy Naughton

Compiled by Brian Caball

PEIL FAOI 6/8:
(i) Great football was played once again by our Rock youngsters on Sunday morning last in the Caherslee GAA pitch. The Rock U6/7/8 boys will be in action again at 11am on Sunday next, 18th May. The football keeps getting better! Feicfimid sibh, a bhuachaillí, ar an 18ú Bealtaine i gCathair Sailí.
(ii) Our U6/8 Thursday evening Summer Academy commenced on Thursday at 5.30pm and will continue every Thursday in Connolly Park. Fáilte roimh chách!

PEIL FAOI 10:
(i) Football-for-Fun will continue, gan stad gan staonadh, at 10.50am on Sunday next (18th May) in Caherslee.
(ii) With the arrival of summer we now have Football-for-Fun or a Coiste na nÓg game every WEDNESDAY (note change of day) in Connolly Park for the foreseeable future. It will be held at 6.40pm this Wednesday (14th). Buail isteach! Fáilte roimh chách!
(iii) The lads played brilliantly in the GoGames at sunny Milltown’s lovely grounds ar Chéadaoin na seachtaine seo caite. Well done, lads! (Colm Ó Mongáin)

PEIL FAOI 12:
(i) Training for all U12 boys will take place on Tuesday and on Thursday at 5.45pm in Connolly Park.
(ii) We kicked off Phase 2 of the County League with two victories v Kilcummin in Connolly Park last Sunday evening. Next Sunday we’ll travel to Legion to play in Round 2.
(iii) We had a great day out at the Kilmacud Crokes’ Tournament. The trip was enjoyed by all.
(iv) Our boys are now looking forward to their June 15th trip to Naas. (Tim McMahon)

PEIL FAOI 14:
(i) U14 County League Division 1 final…Kilcummin: 2-12; AdeS: 5-19. Our outstanding U14 footballers were crowned County League Division 1 champions in Kilcummin on Tuesday night. In a final that was played under a scorching summer’s sun, the young men from The Rock turned in a magnificent display of football at its best….peil den scoth! They led by 0-17 at half time…5-8 to 0-6…having registered the maximum number of green flags without delay. Kilcummin, to their credit, never gave up but the boys in Black’n’Amber were just too strong on this occasion. It was indeed a wonderful team performance and the whole panel got an opportunity to play. The ball skills, support play, defending and score-taking were top drawer. The Rockies’ supporters, who travelled in big numbers, were well rewarded for making the trip. Ócáid iontach eile i saol na Carraige! The result comes on the back of a huge amount of hard work and dedication by all the coaches who have produced such a lovely team from a great bunch of players. An Charraig go deo!
An fhoireann: Oran O’Regan; Bruno Grzybowski, Conor Maguire, Cameron Patterson; Tadhg O’Regan, Shea Horan, Dylan McEvoy; Tadhg Lucey, Billy Kirby; Jamie Quillinan, Michael Carmody, Blake Bowler; Oisín Horan, Shane Carey, Kian Cronin; Gerard Teahon, Barry Maguire, Hugh Brassil, Jamie McEvoy, Matt Murphy, Ben O’Leary, Ben Smith, Darragh Magnier, Harry Healy, Darragh Moriarty, Conor McCannon, Callum Griffin. An bhainistíocht: Ger Teahon, Micko Horan, Brendan Smith, Wayne Quillinan, Jonathan Magnier. An Charraig go deo! Gearóid Ó Tíocháin a ghlac an grianghraf.

u14 Boys County League Div 1 Champions

(ii) Training continues on Friday evenings at 7pm and on Sunday[P1] mornings at 11.00am i bPáirc Uí Chonghaile. (Pat Carmody, Micko Horan, Jonathan Magnier)

PEIL FAOI 16:
(i) Monday the 5th of May we played our final round game in Division 1 of the Central League away v the John Mitchel Club. Surprisingly, on arrival at Ballyseedy we had to modify our team to 13 players as Na Mistéalaigh had only 13 boys. We had already changed a few things around for this game so we had to make more late adjustments. Thankfully, we played well throughout the game, the boys carried out instructions as requested, lots of players got game time and contributed well and we came away with another good win. Final score: 5-13 to 5-7. Bua maith.
(ii) We then had a home tie v An Ghaeltacht on Thursday 8th in the semi-final of the Central League (Division 1). Having played An Ghaeltacht a week earlier in the round game we knew we would have to work extremely hard to perform well in this one. Thankfully, our boys upped their performance again. We led at half time by 0-10….3-9 to 1-5. The message at half time was to keep the intensity up as, mar is eol dúinn, games can quickly turn around! Our boys kept playing well, kept taking their scores and kept working for each other. We made numerous changes to give lads as much game time as possible. A successful day out! The final score of 4-19 to 3-8 showed what a strong performance it was. Maith sibh, a bhuachaillí!
(iii) We have now qualified for the finals of Division 1 and Division 5 of the Central League….
(a) The Division 1 final has been scheduled for Thursday 15th….time and venue to be confirmed;
(b) The Division 5 final is also due to be played this week….time, date, venue and opponents to be confirmed; expect text. So, everybody is requested to keep an eye out on the club website and on social media for final details and to come out a support these magnificent young Rockies. They’re worth supporting!
(c) Our U16-ers: Barry Laide, Ben Litchfield, Conor O’Regan, Danny Lane, David Hobbert, Denis Brassil, Fionn Cotter, Harry Murphy, Hawlie Cotter, Jack Delaney, Jamie Ó Cathasaigh, Joe de Barra, Liam Swords, Mark Riordan, Oran O’Donoghue, Ryan O’Carroll, Oran O’Regan, Conor Murphy, Dean Courtney, Diarmuid Hennessy, Eliot Calleja, Jayden O’Dowd, Mark Foley, Nathan O’Connor, Noah Reidy, Ryan O’Flaherty, Séamus Keenan, Seán McCannon, Tadhg Somers, Tom Dawson, Oisín Cotter, Joe O’Halloran, Ediart Topali, Eoin Mangan, David Ahern, Darragh Lyons, Alex O’Flaherty, Ewan Canty. (d) Our U16B footballers: Oran O’Regan, Alex O’Flaherty, Diarmuid Hennessy, Séamus Keenan, Tadhg Somers. Seán McCannon, Ryan O’Flaherty, Liam Swords, Noah Reidy, Joe de Barra, Ewan Canty, Elliott Calleja, Dean Courtney, Mark Foley, Oisín Cotter, Joe O’Halloran, Ediart Topali, Ryan McCord.
