PEIL FAOI 14:
(i) U14 County League Division 1 final…Kilcummin: 2-12; AdeS: 5-19. Our outstanding U14 footballers were crowned County League Division 1 champions in Kilcummin on Tuesday night. In a final that was played under a scorching summer’s sun, the young men from The Rock turned in a magnificent display of football at its best….peil den scoth! They led by 0-17 at half time…5-8 to 0-6…having registered the maximum number of green flags without delay. Kilcummin, to their credit, never gave up but the boys in Black’n’Amber were just too strong on this occasion. It was indeed a wonderful team performance and the whole panel got an opportunity to play. The ball skills, support play, defending and score-taking were top drawer. The Rockies’ supporters, who travelled in big numbers, were well rewarded for making the trip. Ócáid iontach eile i saol na Carraige! The result comes on the back of a huge amount of hard work and dedication by all the coaches who have produced such a lovely team from a great bunch of players. An Charraig go deo!

PEIL FAOI 16:
(i) Monday the 5th of May we played our final round game in Division 1 of the Central League away v the John Mitchel Club. Surprisingly, on arrival at Ballyseedy we had to modify our team to 13 players as Na Mistéalaigh had only 13 boys. We had already changed a few things around for this game so we had to make more late adjustments. Thankfully, we played well throughout the game, the boys carried out instructions as requested, lots of players got game time and contributed well and we came away with another good win. Final score: 5-13 to 5-7. Bua maith.
(ii) We then had a home tie v An Ghaeltacht on Thursday 8th in the semi-final of the Central League (Division 1). Having played An Ghaeltacht a week earlier in the round game we knew we would have to work extremely hard to perform well in this one. Thankfully, our boys upped their performance again. We led at half time by 0-10….3-9 to 1-5. The message at half time was to keep the intensity up as, mar is eol dúinn, games can quickly turn around! Our boys kept playing well, kept taking their scores and kept working for each other. We made numerous changes to give lads as much game time as possible. A successful day out! The final score of 4-19 to 3-8 showed what a strong performance it was. Maith sibh, a bhuachaillí!
(iii) We have now qualified for the finals of Division 1 and Division 5 of the Central League….
(a) The Division 1 final has been scheduled for Thursday 15th….time and venue to be confirmed;
(b) The Division 5 final is also due to be played this week….time, date, venue and opponents to be confirmed; expect text. So, everybody is requested to keep an eye out on the club website and on social media for final details and to come out a support these magnificent young Rockies. They’re worth supporting!
