UNDER 6/7/8 FOOTBALL:
Our junior academy football sessions took off in style, in Mercy Mounthawk School Hall, on Sunday last (12th). The club’s 2nd outing of ’25 will be held at 10am for the UNDER 6 boys (born 2019/20) and 11am for the UNDER 8 boys (born 2017/18). A larger crowd of budding young Rockies is expected on Sunday morning next. Come along, everybody! All newcomers welcome…fáilte roimh chách. The boys of The Rock are ready for 2025 action! ‘Here we come,’ they say!
UNDER 10 FOOTBALL:
Be preparing for your season’s football action. Bíodh do bhríste peile iarnáltha agus bíodh snas ar do bhróga peile! Bíodh do stocaí, do gheansaí agus do lámhainní réidh agat!
UNDER 12 FOOTBALL:
Our UNDER 12 boys can’t wait for Sunday January 26th….just two Sundays away! Tá siad ag tnúth le seisiúin iontacha agus tá siad ag prapáil agus ag ullmhú le haghaidh obair mhór an tséasúir.
PEIL FAOI 16:
We had our first outdoor session of the 2025 season at home in Connolly Park on Sunday last (12th). It was great to step out on the green grass of ‘Connolly,’ considering the poor weather all week, and what a great session it turned out to be! 28 players took part in the lunchtime gathering and our boys were into the swing of things ón tús; tá tús maith déanta ag peileadóirí Faoi 16 na Carraige! The mentors noted the great sense of enthusiasm among the players and were well pleased. ‘What an encouraging commencement to our season!’ said one happy mentor. Further sessions have been planned for Wednesday evening and for Friday evening. So, boys, keep a watch out for group messages with details. And…we motor on!

MINOR FOOTBALL:
Best wishes for a successful season to our minor footballers and to their management team of Eoin Colgan, Theo Ó Duigín, Andrew Morrissey and Richard Long. Go n-éirí go geal lenár bpeileadóirí Faoi 18 ar pháirc na himeartha! Tús tús maith, leath na hoibre!
PEIL FAOI 19:
‘Well done’ to Tralee’s two outstanding secondary school football teams that did well in the quarter finals of the Munster Championship (Corn Uí Mhuirí) on Wednesday (15th). Tralee CBS (v Coláiste Naomh Bréanainn) and Mercy Mounthawk (v Coláiste Naomh Proinsias, Baile an Róistigh) showed their skills and talents to the football world. The Munster semi-finals will be played on Saturday January 25th and the final has been scheduled for February 8th. Like Connacht GAA secretary, John Prenty, we encourage all our college players to give of their best for their school!
THE ROCK SOCIAL:
Our Club Social will take place on Friday 14th February, Lá Naomh Vailintín. Oíche go maidin a bheidh ann!!

AN RÍOCHT 2025:
(i) Best wishes to Fir Chiarraí v Dún na nGall in the Allianz National Football League on 26th January (Sunday).
(ii) Good luck to the Mná Chiarraí v Ard Mhacha in the Lidl National Football League on 25th January (Saturday).
THE TRICOLOUR: Traditional guidelines tell us that the National Flag should only be displayed in public from sunrise to sunset, id est, the flag should be raised and lowered between the hours of dawn and dusk. Does that mean that GAA fields and stadia should not fly the National Flag throughout the night? Would evening/night games under lights be exceptional?
COMHBHRÓN:
Sympathies to Crócaigh Chill Airne v Aireagal Chiaráin. Níorbh é lá na gCrócach é!
AN CLUICHE SCILIÚIL:
Nice to note a Kerry hurler doing well in the Black‘n’Amber of Kilkenny….Fionán Mackessy.
MANA:
Let our motto be: dúiseacht le dúthracht ag breacadh an lae….awaken with enthusiasm at the dawn of the day!
