PEIL FAOI U16:
On Sunday last (9th) our U16 boys were unlucky v the Dr Croke Club boys in the quickly organised County League (Division 2) semi-final. This much looked-forward-to Black‘n’Amber v Dubh‘s’Ómrach game was played in our own Connolly Park on what was a lovely morning. A mighty match took place, both teams giving it everything. The game ended level after 60 spellbinding minutes. Am breise! The extra time consisted of two 10-minute halves. The Dr Croke boys took control early in the extra time and they had built up a 4-point lead by the mini-break. Our never-say-die stalwarts dug deep and brought the score back level in the 2nd half of extra time but…ach, faraor, ochón agus mo bhrón…a late point by Na Crócaigh was the deciding score. Nár mhór an trua é….wasn’t that a great pity! Sympathies, boys! You gave it your very best shot! We are still very happy with your season’s dedication and we are delighted that you are the well-deserved champions of the Tralee and St Brendan District and that you are the Central League champions for 2025. We say ‘well done’ to Dr Croke Club players and we wish them the best of luck in the final. Our objective all year was to encourage the boys to better themselves in every aspect of the game…skills, fitness, commitment and endurance. Some boys picked up unfortunate injuries early in the year and those injuries had an effect on their own and on the team’s performance. However, they showed great determination and made heroic efforts to get back to full fitness again. Football activities began in late December of last year and continued on a weekly basis since. That took massive effort and commitment by all involved to make it happen. So, well done, young men of The Rock! Agus sin sin! That now puts a clabhsúr on our football season….a long year with plenty of ups and downs. These brave Rock boys will rise again and move forward with Rock-like confidence! (Ger Hobbert)

CAID na gCOLÁISTÍ FAOI 15:
The final of the U15 Russell Cup (Kerry PPS) competition was played in Firies on Friday last between The Green CBS and Presentation College, Milltown. ‘Hard luck’ on the Tralee U15 boys who were 0-1 up at half-time, 0-7 up with 11 minutes to go but….ach, faraor géar, bhí siad 0-1 taobh thiar ag deireadh na himeartha ag lán ama! The Green: 1-16; Milltown: 3-11. Rock boys on the team: Conor Maguire (3) and Dylan McEvoy (15). This was the Milltown School’s first ever victory in this competition agus is ar chornchlár Chiarraí Láir a bheidh Corn an Ruiséalaigh i mbliana!

PEIL na gCOLÁISTÍ FAOI 17:
Best wishes to The Green U17s in their match v The Sem in the semi-final of the Frewen Cup U17A competition which has been scheduled for this Friday, 14th November. (Tim Mac Mathúna, Adrienne Mhic Lochlainn)

CAID na gCOLÁISTÍ FAOI 19:
(i) We look forward to seeing The Green CBS boys taking on The Sem in the upcoming final of the U19 Colleges Football Competition (Corn Uí Shúilleabháin). The game will take place on Tuesday next, 18ú Samhain. Fingers crossed for all and especially for Olivier Lata, Eoin Ó Mongáin, Fionnán Ó Riain and Rónán Ó Cearúill. The clash of the Blue‘n’Gold of The Green and the Green‘n’Gold of The Sem is expected to be close and exciting. An Fhaiche go deo! Cá luífidh Corn an tSúilleabhánaigh i mbliana?
(ii)(a) In the Munster U19 Corn Uí Mhuirí Competition The Green, having pipped Coláiste Phádraig, Oileán Ciarraí, were scheduled to play v Pobalscoil Chaiseal Mumhan on Wednesday of this week (12th). Good luck to Olivier Lata (cúl báire), Fionnán Ó Riain (leathchúlaí ar chlé) and Rónán Ó Cearúil (lántosach). (ii)(b) Good wishes, also, to Mercy Mounthawk in their next encounter v Coláiste Phádraig, Oileán Ciarraí. Gach ádh ar Adam Mac Eoin (5), David Hobbert (7), Alex Ó Tuathaigh (8), Anraí Ó Murchú (9) agus Jack Ó Duigín (13). Cá raghaidh Corn Uí Mhuirí i mbliana? (T.Mac Mathúna, A.Mhic Lochlainn)

THE TRICOLOUR:
National guidelines tell us that the National Flag should only be displayed in public from sunrise to sunset, id est, the flag should be raised and lowered between the hours of dawn and dusk. Does that mean that GAA fields and stadia should not fly the National Flag throughout the night?

MAR EOLAS:
Tralee Sportsfield was officially renamed Austin Stack Park in 1944, before the end of WW II. ‘Raibh ‘fhios agat?
