A Great night last Friday night as last years u13s boys (current u14) squad received their medals from last years brilliant season .

UNDER 15 – CLUB FOOTBALL:
An Under 15 Rock football team will travel to the Nemo Rangers Club, Cork, on Saturday March 1st and will take part in the annual Mick O’Brien Tournament. Mighty games expected!

No mean feat! Well done, boys, and ‘well done’ to Rockmen Dale Counihan, joint manager, and Damien McLoughlin, team physio. Go n-éirí go geal leo uile sa chraobhchluiche v Coláiste Choilm, Baile an Chollaigh! Gach ádh ar an bhFaiche!

UNDER 16 FOOTBALL:
(i) Our boys had another busy week! They had sessions on Wednesday, on Friday and on Sunday. Good work was done on all aspects of the game and particularly on the new football rules. Bright and early on Sunday morning they had a joint session with the minor team. A very interesting session was had with everyone getting stuck in to the action. Our 2009-born players are now invited to attend minor training sessions over the next few weeks…if they are interested; that’ll be a step up!
(ii) In ongoing development the players have been given information about the rules and they are strongly encouraged to try and get a good understanding of them. Home training plans, similar to the work that they have been doing at training, have also been given to the players. Do try to find the time to put in the solo miles at home, boys! Sessions are planned again for this week; as usual, we ask you to check your group messages for information. Best of luck to our players who are facing into Mock Junior Certificate Exams this week. Busy times!
(iii) Our Under 16s will play challenge games in our own Connolly Park on the next three Sunday mornings at 11am….mar seo a leanas: Sunday February 16th v Ballymac; Sunday February 23rd v Firies; Sunday March 2nd v Na Seán Mistéalaigh.

UNDER 17 – COLLEGE FOOTBALL:
The Green and Mercy Mounthawk will meet in the quarter final of the Dunloe Cup competition on Wednesday 25th February. The victorious team will play against the winners of the Presentation Milltown and Pobalscoil Inbhear Scéine match in a semi-final which will take place on Wednesday 5th March. Rock players involved: Eoin Mangan, Jamie Casey, Jack Delaney (The Green), Ben Litchfield, David Hobbert, Oran O’Donoghue, Harry Murphy, Alex Touhy, Daragh Lyons, Conor O’Regan (Mounthawk). Exciting times ahead!

GRADAIM AN UACHTARÁIN:
What a nice GAA programme was shown on TG4 on Friday last as GAA President awards were presented to chosen club grassroots’ workers….caretakers of club grounds, liners of pitches, grass cutters, sandwich and tea makers, geansaí washers, odd job and maintenance people, coaches, etc. We have very many such voluntary persons in our club, bail ó Dhia orthu!

STUTTGART GAA:
Former underage Rock HURLER, Aron de Barra, is a leading GAA light in Stuttgart, Germany! He is chairperson.stuttgart.europe@gaa.ie. Hurling and football are part of the club agenda….members play hurling and football. The club is just one of nearly a dozen GAA clubs in Germany. How the GAA has grown! Club colours seem to be….ooops….black and amber. Aron is a geophysical scientist. Ardfhear, a Aron. (Stuttgart = Stud Farm).
