Juvenile Club Notes, 10th September 2025

September 10, 2025 By Tommy Naughton

Compiled by Brian Caball

PEIL FAOI 6:
(i) Our U6 boys will have fun games with the Ardfert U6s in Connolly Park this Thursday (11th) from 6pm to 7pm
(ii) Training will take again on Sunday morning next (14th) from 11am to 12.00 in CAHERSLEE. ‘See you all, boys! (Brian Ó Donnchú)

CAID FAOI 8:
The football action continues for these age groups at 6pm on Thursday in Connolly Park and then on Sunday in CAHERSLEE at 10.50am. (Brian Ó Donnchú; Eoin Ó hÉigeartaigh)

PEIL FAOI 9/10:
(i) This Wednesday (10th) our U10s played GoGames with Ardfert in Connolly Park.
(ii) And we’ll have still more U10 Football-for-Fun in CAHERSLEE at 10.50am on Sunday.
(iii) On September 17th, Wednesday week, our young stalwarts will play GoGames in Castleisland with the Desmond Club lads.
(iv) Our U9 boys are eagerly looking forward to a trip to Cork on Saturday October 4th to play in the U9 Canty Cup Tournament. Our hosts will be the footballers of the St Finbarr Club on the southside of Cork City. (Colm Ó Mongáin)

PEIL FAOI 11/12:
(i) We finished off our U12 competitive season with two victories by both teams….v the Kerins-O’Rahilly Club and v Ardfert. Great results, boys!
(ii) Well done, young men of The Rock! We’ll complete our season with a return visit to Dingle/Daingean/Daingean Uí Chúis on September 19th; our recent trip back west was most enjoyable and great football was played by both sides. Sea, imríodh peil sciliúil den scoth thiar i nGallaras!
(iii) Our Under 11s will travel to Cork this coming Sunday (14th) for the Dee and Barry O’Leary Tournament at the Na Piarsaigh Club….always a brilliant outing….and we hope, le cúnamh Dé, to retain the title that we won last year. This will be the 42nd year in succession that Rock boys travel to Club na bPiarsach on the northside of Cork City. Wow! 1983! That was the year that Dublin won the All-Ireland by defeating Galway by 0-2; The Dubs finished the game with only 12 players and Galway finished with 14! The Kerry championship was won by Killarney (Crokes and Legion joined together!); they beat Feale Rangers by 0-3. (Tim Mac Mathúna)

CAID FAOI 14:
(i) The 39th U14 Denis (Dinny) O’Connor Lee Strand Invitational Tournament will take place on Saturday next (13th). Best wishes to players, mentors, parents and, gan aon agó, the hard-working organisers, caterers and helpers! Lá dá saol bheidh ann, trí dheonú Dé!! Give it your best shot, boys!

(ii) Having overcome Na Gaeil, our B team faced and pipped a strong Milltown/Castlemaine selection in the Central League (Division 5) final last Friday. A mighty by our mighty players! Congratulations to our lads who completed the double double! Up The Rock!
(iii) Who are the Central League and the County League title holders for 2025: Cé eile ach…The Rock U14 boys! (Seanachán Magnier)

PEIL FAOI U16:
(i) We are still awaiting details of our Division 2 semi-final; our ever-faithful U16-ers continue their training sessions with diligence and enthusiasm; training sessions have been scheduled for the coming weeks in preparation for the big encounter….an dúshlán mór. Beimid ullamh chun troda agus chun catha! Yes, we’ll be ready!
(ii) Our sympathies to the Tralee District U16 footballers who lost to North Kerry in Ballydonoghue. Ní fál go haer é!
(iii) Plans are being made to run the Tralee and Naomh Breandán district championship before the season ends and we hope to enter two teams in this competition.
(iv) ‘Well done’ to the minors, and particularly to our U16 lads on the team, who faced Kenmare Shamrocks this Thursday evening in the semi-final of the county championship Shield. A good performance, boys! (Ger Hobbert)

MINOR FOOTBALL:
The Rock minors, having been unlucky v Bordcheantar Naomh Breandán in the Keanes SuperValu County Championship, faced Kenmare Shamrocks at 6.30pm this Thursday (11th) in The Shield semi-final. Up The Rock!
