DEATH OF JOHN LYNCH: Even though he was ailing with some time nonetheless, all in the Club and the wider community were saddened to learn of the death of John Lynch (Lisloose). John was a former player – late forties/early fifties – and usually lined out in the half back line with such stalwart defenders like Joe Flaherty, Frank Kissane, Doc McHugh and Jerry Pluggy Moriarty. Later, John was a valued member of the Club Committee and served as Vice Chairman for a six year period (1984-1989). He was instrumental at that time in securing and maintaining the ‘Nuns Field’ for our Juveniles which, coincidentally, is now taking on a new phase under the stewardship of his son Liam, who is the current Vice Chairman of the Club. John was a Vice President of the Club and as well as his son Liam’s involvement in Club activities, his grandsons – David, Mark and Rory – play with the Juvenile teams.
Sincere sympathy to John’s wife, Phil, sons Liam, Shane and Enda, daughter, Gillian, sister Betty and all his extended family and friends. Funeral arrangements as follows: Reposing in Gleasures Funeral Home tomorrow Thursday 5.30-7.30pm, followed by removal to Our Lady & St. Brendan’s. Requeim Mass Friday at 11am burial afterwards in Rath Cemetery. May he rest in peace.
