No. 15 Urban Terrace was home to the Mulchinock Family – Joe and his sisters Kitty & Dolly ran Mulchinocks shop (on the site in front of St. Brendan’s Church). Mulchinocks, became the traditional meeting place for decades of Austin Stacks teams. Joe Mulchinock was a former player of both codes, and chairman of the club in his day. Last Friday 27th December, marked the 38th anniversary of Joe’s death in 1975 at the age of 59 and to mark his place in our Club’s history, a photograph of Joe was unveiled at the Austin Stacks Clubhouse.
It was wonderful to see some members of his family (Tom Tansley, Marie Fernane and Orlaith Griffin) and friends present for the occasion. The club would like to thank our wonderful Club PRO Martin Collins for all his help in organising this event. We do have 2 lovely articles relating to ‘Mulchinock”s in the History pages of our website check these out (1) Farewell to Mulchinocks https://austinstacks.ie/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=1696: and (2) Come up to the Top of the Rock https://austinstacks.ie/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=1265.
