Glenflesk 1-5 Austin Stacks 3-11
The value of a strong squad was very much in evidence in Glenflesk on this Saturday afternoon (17th March) when we took on the home side in round 3 of this five-round Co. League. With many players who started the campaign out injured (Breandán Caball, Tom McLoughlin, Shane Walsh, Shane Crowley and team captain, Paul Galvin having to be withdrawn after 17min) today’s replacements played as if they were never away.
Despite getting off to a poor start (Glenflesk were 1-1 up inside the fifth minute), we rallied well and between the 6th and 17th minutes scored seven points without reply – all, bar one, coming from play and all brilliant efforts from distance.
Then, with two points, the home side reduced our lead to the bare minimum (0-7 to 1-3) with five minutes to go to the break.
However in the 26th minute centre-back, Conor Jordan burst through and with assistance from Kyle Fitzgibbon, Conor blasted to the net for a great goal.
This left us ahead by four at half time (1-7 to 1-3).
We kept up the pressure in the second half, holding the opposition to just two more points while adding 2-4 ourselves.
Our two goals came in the 42nd minute (by second half substitute, Shane Crowley) and in the 57th minute by Danny Carroll.
This was a brilliant team display with all 18 players contributing to the victory, a feature of which was the amount of breaking ball we won at centrefield.

We have a break now in Co. League activity – round 4, at home against Kerins O’Rahillys, is not scheduled until 20th April – the week after Kerry’s first outing in the Munster MF Championship (against Tipperary on 14th April).
