Looking through the record books did we ever score 7 goals in a County league Div1 match,well we scored 8 against Glenbeigh/Glencar in 1978,and 6 twice against Kerins O’Rahillys in 1973 and Gneeveguilla in 1992 but never scored 7 before.
Ryan O’Driscoll with 4-4 for a teenager looks like a record that will not be broken for a long time.
David Fitzmaurice from a Rolo pass had Stacks ahead after thirty seconds,but we had to wait six minutes for the next score a pointed free from Evan Cronin followed by a Shane Cronin two pointer and a Cian Murphy free leaving Spa ahead by three points after nine minutes.
Ryan O’Driscoll scored his first goal from a Jack O’Shea pass after ten minutes to level the match only for Michael Horgan at the other end with a point to put Spa ahead by one point.
Stacks hit a purple patch with Ryan getting his second goal from a Calla pass and Ryan put Cian Purcell through for Stacks third goal
sandwiched in between a Michael Tansley forty five leaving Stacks ahead 3-3 to 0-5 with eighteen minutes gone.
Evan Cronin from a free had Spa point but within a minute Ryan O’Driscoll made it a hat-trick of goals after being put trough by a David Fitzmaurice pass.
Colin Griffin and Gary Vaughan traded points and then on twenty three minutes Ryan ODriscoll wrote his name into the history books with his fourth goal from a Bruno pass.
Ryan from a free and Evan Cronin had a point each before the interval.
Half Time Austin Stacks 5-5 Spa 0-8
Evan Cronin with a two pointer,Ryan from play,Garry Vaughan with another two pointer and Ryan again from a free all inside four minutes of the second half.
Evan Cronin with two points made it an eight point game but any chance of a Spa comeback were quickly put to bed when Eoghan Carroll goaled from good link up play with Cian Purcell leaving Stacks ahead by 6-7 to 0-14.
David Spillane goaled for the home side,quickly followed by an Evan Cronin point putting eight between the sides.
Cian Purcell had two Stacks points in between a Cian Murphy point
with ten minutes left.
Jack O’Shea after a good run had his second ever County League goal and Stacks seventh on the day.
Sub Conor Myers had a fine point and Evan Cronin with 2x 2pointers
closed out the scoring.
