Minor Town League:
(i) Kerins O’Rahillys 1-12; Austin Stacks 1-5.
This second game (of four) in the Town League played at Caherina on this Tuesday evening (3rd April) ended in victory for the home side. Playing against a strong cold breeze we were four points adrift after ten minutes. But once we settled we hit a purple patch in a six minute period (13th to 19th minutes) during which we scored 1-3 to leave us ahead by two. After a patient build-up, which was started by corner back Eoghan McKivergan (what a superb game he had), it was full forward Kyle Fitzgibbon who put over our first point followed closely by another from Eamon McAllen.
Our goal came in the 15th minute when wing back Aidan McQuinn latched on to a quickly taken free to blast to the net. Then four minutes later Paddy Fitzgibbon, in trade-mark fashion, slotted over a beautiful free.
Rahillys, with two points, got back on level terms by half time (1-3 to 0-6).
After a slow restart by both sides it was Paddy again from a free in the 37th minute who restored our lead.
But, with so many of our lads playing well, it is hard to believe that we failed to score again until the 60th minute when Ciaran O’Connell pointed a beauty from distance. In between Rahillys had scored 1-6 – their goal coming in the 48th minute – to give them a comfortable victory in the end.

We have two more games to play in the group stage of this League. The first in on this Easter Saturday evening in Ballymac against a Ballymac/Churchill combination (throw-in 5.30), while the final game will be at home to John Mitchels on a date yet to be fixed.
