As no doubt you are aware by now, of the sad news that Tommy “Bracker” O’Regan, passed away yesterday, in his home, in Killarney.
It is intended that our Austin Stacks Club will provide a Guard of Honour for him, after his Memorial Mass, on this Saturday, 6th July, at 10:30am, in St Mary’s Cathedral, Killarney.
Tommy following on from his father Martin’s footsteps was always destined to wear the Black & Amber of Austin Stacks and in 1966 Tommy made his Senior debut against John Mitchels scoring three points in the process but unfortunately beaten on the day.Tommy lined out again from 1967 to 1972 but no luck on the field of play.
Then in 1973 the big breakthrough came Stacks beat John Mitchels Dr Crokes and Kenmare District in the semi-final. Stacks were back in the final for the first time since 1936.Stacks beat Na hAghasaigh in the final and were on top early on with a Ger Power special and in the 20th minute the second killer blow came when Tommy fisted to the net.
Tommy won his second County Championship medal in 1975 after beating Mid Kerry in the final after a replay.Tommy made 18 Championship appearances and scored 5-18 in total.Tommy also played Senior Hurling for Stacks who were beaten in 3 finals 68,69,74. He made 27 Appearances.
Tommy played Hurling for Kerry in the National League and Intermediate.
Tommy also played for the Kerry Junior Football team winning a Munster medal in 1968.
In 1970 he was top scorer for Kerry with
2-20.Tommy made 6 Appearances scoring 2-25 in total.
