The Austin Stacks community was very saddened to hear of the passing of Ned O’Shea last weekend. A lifelong supporter of the GAA, Ned was an accomplished footballer with his club Keel and a long and distinguished playing career culminated in a famous county championship win at right fullback for Mid Kerry in 1967.
Since establishing himself in the construction business in Tralee, Ned became a very good friend of the Rock and, through his well known construction company Ned O’Shea & Sons, he and his son James contributed very generously to many of the club’s fundraising initiatives over the years. Last year, Ned O’Shea & Sons became the club’s Juvenile sponsors jointly with Lanes Foods, in a unique sponsorship arrangement that promotes player welfare and youth wellbeing. For the past two seasons, our under 13, under 15 and minor boys teams have proudly displayed the ‘Jigsaw Kerry Youth Mental Health’ logo on the front of the famed Black & Amber jersey.
The Club Executive and members wish to extend their condolences to James and all of Ned’s family and his partner Kathleen, and to Benny Murphy and the team in Ned O’Shea & Sons. Ar dhéis lámh Dé go raibh a anam uasal.
