MEMBERSHIP: since the start of the year we have been providing a facility for people who wish to renew membership or take out new membership, whereby Registrar Tadhg McMahon has been in the Clubhouse on Monday nights between 8.30 and 9.30.
We have to say that the uptake so far has been below expectations. We will continue with this facility for a few weeks more and then a closing date will be announced. Anyone who hasn’t become a member by that date will not be entitled, for example, to apply to the Club for match tickets for the Munster and All Ireland Championships.
SENIOR FOOTBALL: The first round of the SF Co. League commences this weekend. We travel to Annascaul on this Saturday evening (4th April) for a 6.45pm throw in.
Best of luck to William, Wayne and the whole back-room team and squad for the coming season.
MINOR A FOOTBALL: Kerins O’Rahillys 1-9; Austin Stacks 0-8.
This was a tightly contested round 5 Co. League game played at Healy Park last Saturday evening with the sides level on no less that seven occasions during the hour.
It was five points a piece at the interval and still level eight points all after 59m. Rahillys got the vital winning scores in injury time.
Apart from David Mannix who scored six splendid points – 3 from frees and 3 from play, we failed to take some gilt-edged chances which would have put the game out of reach of the opposition long before the final whistle.
With one more round to play we still have the opportunity to qualify for the knock-out stages, but to do this we must win our final game and then depend on other results.
Team: Barry Galvin, Jonathan McCoy, Fergal MacNamara, Ronan Shanahan (Capt), Jake O’Brien, Shane Carroll, Nicky O’Connell, Gary O’Connor, Jamie Lowham (0-1), Shane O’Callaghan (0-1), Fergal Maunsell, Frankie Murphy, David Mannix (0-6 – 3 frees), Don Quinn, David Courtney.
Sub: Darragh O’Connell (ht).
As we write the final game in the group stages of the League (the postponed round 3 game at home to Laune Rangers) goes ahead in Connolly Park on this Friday evening at 6.45pm, though there is a possibility that this may go back to Saturday afternoon. Check with Club beforehand.
MINOR B FOOTBALL: The Co.Board has put back the last two rounds of the Co. League by one week.
That means our game away to Ballyduff goes back now to Friday week (10th April) and the final game in the group stages, which is a home game against Glenbeigh-Glencar, goes back to Friday, 17th April.
BAR: Congratulations and best wishes to Tracey Nelligan who has been appointed our new Bar Manager. The ever-popular Tracey has been on our temporary staff for a number of years and has been Acting Manager since the turn of the year when the equally ever popular Harry Hynes stepped down to pursue other business interests.
We take this opportunity again to thank Harry for his wonderful service to the Club during his almost six years at the helm and we wish Tracey every success in the future.
We would ask members and their friends to continue to frequent the Bar as often as possible.
