SENIOR FOOTBALL: We travel to Lewis Road on next Sunday afternoon (5th May) to play Dr. Crokes in the Qr. Final of the Co. Club Championship. Throw in at 2.30pm with extra time if necessary.
This will be our third meeting with the Killarney side at this stage of the competition in the past four seasons. We had a one point win in 2010 and last year Crokes reversed that result when they had three points to spare.
After this we have three consecutive home games in the Co. League, in rounds 4, 5 and 6 on three consecutive weekends – against table-toppers, St. Michael’s/Foilmore (w/e 11th May); Laune Rangers (18th May) and Dingle (25th May).
The draw for this season’s Co. Championship will be made live of Radio Kerry Sport on next Saturday (4th May) at 2.30pm.
HURLING: Our Hurlers, whose opening round game against Kenmare did not go ahead last week, have a bye this week in the South Kerry League. The remaining fixtures are ‘up in the air’ at the moment with talk of they reverting back to Monday evenings instead of Wednesdays. Our next opponent will be Duagh but, as we write, we have nothing confirmed about this fixture.
CONGRATULATIONS: to Club Hurler, John McCarthy, on the recent expansion of his B-Mobile business, just four months after he started the business in Dominick Street last December. The online expansion is geared mainly towards the provision of customized phonecovers featuring the logos of Sports Clubs. Best of luck John with the new venture.
KERRY MINORS: After their defeat to Cork in last week’s replay Kerry now face Clare in the next round of the Munster Championship, in Austin Stack Park on next Saturday (4th May) at 4pm, with the winners going on to play Waterford in the semi final on Wednesday, 15th May.
Best of luck again to the whole squad, including our own Greg Horan, Conor Jordan and Joseph O’Kelly and team selector, John O’Keeffe.
MINOR FOOTBALL: Kerry’s additional game in the Munster Championship means that the Co. League semi finals have been put on hold for the moment. We play Dingle in Connolly Park and Dr. Crokes have a home game against An Ghaeltacht.
