SYMPATHY: Sincere sympathy is offered to Ger and Brendan Reidy and all the Reidy family on the death of their mother, Joan.
Mrs. Reidy’s house, in the heart of the Rock, was the unofficial headquarters of the Club for many years and even though you will probably not see her name in any Club minutes or reports, she was nonetheless one of the unsung heros of the Club who did alot of unseen work and never seeking any recognition.
Jerseys were washed, flags mended and refreshments provided for the many who held court in her household deliberating on the affairs of the Club down the years.
Sincere sympathy is also offered to the families of Fred Beer, Connolly Park; Michael O’Shea, Casement’s Avenue (grandfather of former Club footballers, Liam and Maurice Carroll); and Kathleen Griffin, Strand Road (mother of former Basketballer, Mervyn) who also died during the past week.
SENIOR FOOTBALL: Round 1 of the Club Championship against Dingle goes ahead in Connolly Park on this Sunday afternoon (3rd May) at 2pm.
The winners are away to Laune Rangers in the quarter final.
LA NA gCLUB: GAA HQ has designated Sunday, 10th May as La na gClub to celebrate 125 years of GAA activity.
The Club’s organising sub-committee under the stewardship of Tim McMahon and Canice Walsh has already an outline programme drawn-up for the day.
This will commence with Mass in St.Brendan’s Church at 12.30 followed by a parade to the Club HQ in Connolly Park at which a variety of activity will take place. This will include games at Juvenile and Adult level.
At 6pm there will be a Tra na gCeist. At 8pm there will be the unveiling of the All Star pictures and the day will conclude with Ceol and Craic starting at 9pm.
PAINTING: We would like if some more volunteers could come forward on this Saturday to do some more painting.
In the meantime we would like to thank all those who have put their shoulder to the wheel already, especially the efforts of the A Team who have done trojan work so far.
