Club Aibhistín de Staic – Juvenile Notes – Monday June 1st

June 1, 2026 By Maurice MacNamara

CAID FAOI 6: Our U6 boys will have another memorable morning of football on Sunday morning next, 7th June, at 10.55am in the CAHERSLEE field. Feicfimid i gCathair Sailí sibh, a bhuachaillí, agus beidh fáilte roimh chách!

PEIL FAOI 8: Our outdoor action will continue on Sunday next, 7sthJune, at 10.55am in CAHERSLEE. Just come along! Buail isteach! (Naomh Eoin Ó hÉigeartaigh)

PEIL FAOI 10: (i) It’ll be all go again for the U10s at 10.50am on Sunday morning next, 7th June, in CAHERSLEE. Don’t forget your gumshield…chun na fiacla a chosaint. All welcome! (ii) U10 GoGames news: this week’s opposition in Connolly Park on Wednesday 3ú Meitheamh is Rathmore; the postponed challenge v Ardfert hasn’t been forgotten and will be rescheduled. (Colm Ó Mongáin)

PEIL FAOI 11/12: Our U12 younger and older teams welcomed An Baile Dubh (Ballyduff) to Connolly Park on Sunday evening last….and both our sides had to face tough opposition though they didn’t fear their challengers. Yes, they did indeed come up against two physically strong teams and that resulted in two very competitive matches throughout the hour. Both our teams lined out against the wind in the first half and were put under early pressure but they showed great character, strong determination and the ability to claw back significant leads in the second half. It was very encouraging to see these young Rock boys stick to their own style of football, to continue to work the ball and to fight hard for each other….nach ar scáth a chéile a mhaireann na daoine! Both teams are developing and there are clear signs of improvement in both groups week-on-week. The work rate across the panel was excellent and that resilience will stand to them as the season goes on.

Players and mentors are now eagerly looking forward to travelling to Killarney on Sunday next to challenge the Legion Club.…and, gan dabht ar domhan, to continue building! (The Legion pitch is shortly to be named Páirc Uí Chollata in memory of Kerry’s great goalie, Johnny Culloty. Do you know that Johnny won six All-Ireland medals in football and one in Junior Hurling?) Our U12 Black‘n’Amber stalwarts continue to grow and develop into good footballers…their future is bright! And it only seems like yesterday that Daniel Kirby, Paddy Lane, Ronan Carroll and Alex Touhy were playing these U12 matches….and developing their wonderful Gaelic football skills! They’ve U20 All-Ireland medals in their pockets this week after that fantastic victory over the boys from Eoghan’s Country…Tír Eoghain…last weekend! Moladh go deo leo! Among our present U12 stars are Cian Canty, Marcus Henry, Kyle Lucid, Rian Hogan, Conor Long, Tadhg McElligott, Ruairí Magnier, Darragh Maguire, Harry Brassil and Tadhg Nolan. Maith sibh, a bhuachaillí na Carraige! (Colin Ó Tíocháin)

CAID FAOI 14: Our U14 boys are easing off just a little after their great feats in reaching County League finals in two divisions. Our B boys (Division 12) gained the upper hand in aghaidh na nGael i Roinn 12 and the A lads (Division 1) were a little unlucky in aghaidh na Gaeltachta. These boys now look forward to their next football challenges. Upwards and onwards for The Rock U14s. (Seanachán Magnier)

SCRÚDUITHE STÁIT AGUS SCOILE: Best wishes, ádh mór agus cabhair Dé to all who are facing into big examinations. Just do your best and keep calm heads! A place out in the big world awaits you….no matter what results you get! Tá áit ann do chách!

FÉILE FAOI 15: (i) Our U15 boys are training hard for this year’s Féile Peile na nÓg in Doire Cholmcille (Derry) next month. (ii) Thanks to all who continue to financially support the Derry excursion fund and thanks to all who supported the recent tráth na gceist at the club. Our club boys who are preparing diligently for the 2026 Féile Peile na nÓg panel: Oran O’Regan, Bruno Gryzbowski, Cameron Patterson, Conor Maguire, Ben Smith, Hugh Brassil, Tadhg O’Regan, Shea Horan, Dylan McEvoy, Ben O’Leary, Billy Kirby, Tadhg Lucey, Michael Carmody, Blake Bowler, Oisín Horan, Jamie McEvoy, Jamie Quillinan, Ethan Cushen, Callum Griffin, Conor McCannon, Darragh Moriarty, Gerard Teahon, Harry Maguire, Shane Carey, Kian Cronin. These U15 boys will be working even harder at their game and will be focusing on their upcoming local challenges. Maith sibh, a bhuachaillí, agus go n-éirí go geal libh and good luck in your efforts to win a Féile title for The Rock i nDoire Cholmcille i lár an tsamhraidh!

CAID FAOI 16: Continued good wishes to our own David, Mark and Jayden who are part of the North Kerry development panel. (Mícheál Ó hÓdhráin)

MINORS: (i) We now have a break in competitive action because of the Leaving Certificate Examinations and we are concentrating on the U17 Super 10 Tournament. It recommences on Thursday and will continue on Monday June 8th; the final round is expected to take place on June 11th. Faraor géar, we were narrowly defeated by Legion in Round 1 but we’ll plod on agus dóchas mór inár gcroí!! (ii) The County League will commence at the end of June….depending on Kerry’s minor All-Ireland run. (iii) Mór-chomhghairdeachas le hAlex Touhy who was part of the victorious Kerry Under 20 All-Ireland winning panel. What an honour for The Rock Club to have four boys on the Kerry U20 panel! An Dubh‘s’Ómrach Abú!  (Tim Mac Mathúna)

CLUB LOTTO: Thanks to all our club lotto workers, supporters and promoters. Cá ndéanfá Lotto an Chlub? Where to buy a ticket: Husseys’ Deli, Prince’s Quay; Ollmhargadh Chaoimhín de Barra, Upper Rock Street; www.austinstacks.ie; Paudie Commane’s Bookshop, Rock Street; The Burger Shack, Monavalley; O’Flynn Interiors, Lower Rock Street; Carmel Quilter, AdeS Kirbys’ Brogue Inn, Lower Rock Street.

POC FADA: Mighty pucks of the sliotar were witnessed at the Poc Fada Chiarraí competition on Kerry Head last Monday last as Kerry wielders of the camán challenged each other. Nine clubs took part in U16, camogie and senior competitions; and even Tralee was represented. Beidh craobhbhabhtaí na Mumhan ar siúl i gContae Luimnigh ar an 13ú Meitheamh.

CIARRAÍ: Our county teams…senior football (good luck to them in their next outing, especially to Dylan, Joe, Armin and Joey), senior hurling (sympathies to our Christy Ring Cup finalists, especially to our own Cillian Litchfield), U20 (mór-chomhghairdeachas leo v Tír Eoghain), minor (good wishes to Danny Lane, Eoin Mangan and their Kerry colleagues atá sa rás i gcónaí!) agus ár mná (good luck to them in their next outing). The Green‘n’Gold!

SEANRÁ: Go n-éirí an t-ádh leo! May the luck (rise with and) be with all our players….club and county!
