Club Aibhistín de Staic – Juvenile [Boys] Notes

February 23, 2026 By Maurice MacNamara

tiomnaithe ag Brian Caball

SCÓR na bPÁISTÍ: The Scór na bPáistí competitions will take place in Dúchas, MTU, at 4.30pm on Saturday next, 28th February. Why not go along and see what it’s all about! Primary boys/girls who’d like to represent The Rock Club in are asked NOW. Scór na bPáistí is a series of competitions for primary school pupils faoi chúram agus faoi choimirce CLG. Categories: solo singing, recitation or storytelling, ballad group (with 3, 4 or 5 singers…2 songs in harmony), set dance, figure dance, music group (with 2, 3, 4 or 5 musicians…2 tunes), sketch or mime (léiriú stairiúil…between 3 and 8 people) and table quiz (team of 4). The quiz may be on a separate date! The Rules of Scór can be read on-line. Our club could enter THREE items in each category as we are ‘three clubs’…football, hurling and ladies.
PEIL FAOI 6
: Our Under 6 boys will be in action again on Sunday next, 1st March, at 10am. See you all there, boys, and bring a friend! Fáilte roimh chách. Ár gcóitseálaithe: Jonathan Conway, St John Hegarty, Eoin Broderick, Peadar Stack, Séamus Bastible.
PEIL FAOI 7/8: Our Under 7 and Under 8 boys will be back in action again on Sunday next, 1ú Márta, in the Mercy Mounthawk Hall at 11am. See you all there, boys, and all friends welcome. Fáilte is fiche roimh chách. Coaches: Rickie Moloney, Joey Kinsella, Paul Walsh, Paul Healy, Kevin O’Leary, Pa McCarthy, David Leonard, Brian O’Donoghue. Bígí linn!
U10 FOOTBALL for FUN: The Under 9/10 boys will continue their football activity at 10.50am on Sunday next (1ú Márta) at The Green CBS, unless the weather disappoints us (and if the weather is too unpleasant to play you’ll get a text). Please, le do thoil, bring your gum shield, warm gear, €2 for hire of venue and pray for fine weather. Just come along and be part of The Rock. Fáilte roimh chách. Cóitseálaithe: Colm Mangan, Mike Lynch, Liam Walsh, William Kirby, Mike Barry, Ger Breen, Marc Ó Sé and Martin Courtney.
PEIL FAOI 11/12: The U11/12 ‘start up’ time is almost upon us….we’re rearing to go under Mikey Collins, Éamonn Ó Scannláin, Colin Ó Tíocháin, TJ Hogan, Kevin Counihan, Finbarr Canty, David Lucid, Ciarán Murphy, Richard Long, Dara Ó Lúing.
PEIL FAOI 15: Our U15s will travel to Cork on Sunday (28th) to play in the Mick O’Brien Tournament. This great tournament, like our own Lee Strand Tournament, offers a great opportunity to get into preparation mode for the Féile. Coaches: Jonathan Magnier, Wayne Quillinan, Micko Horan agus Gearóid Ó Tíocháin
PEIL FAOI 15/16: Our Under 16 boys are really back in action! This week they’ll continue to work in the gym. Bail ó Dhia orthu! Up the Black‘n’Amber! Cóitseálaithe: Micko Horan, William Kirby, Dan Ahern, Richie Conway, Gearóid Ó Tíocháin agus Richard Long.
THE GREEN CBS: (i) We say ‘well played’ to Conor Maguire, Dylan McEvoy and their Green U15 teammates who took on Coláiste Fhlannáin, Inis, and gave of their best in the Br Taft Cup Munster Colleges’ semi-final in Rathkeale on Wednesday (25th). Mo cheol sibh, a leaideanna na Faiche! (ii) Good wishes to The Green U19 Munster Champions in their next encounters…the A footballers (Corn an Bhráthar Liam Ó Muirí) will challenge St Gerald’s College, Castlebar, County Mayo, on Saturday. The B hurlers (Corn Thomáis Mhic Choilm) are in preparation for their All-Ireland semi-final. Gach ádh oraibh, a lucht na caide agus a lucht na gcamán.
MINOR FOOTBALL: Last weekend’s games, AdeS A v Na Gaeil and AdeS B v K-O’R, were postponed. On Sunday next we play our first Club Championship game v Cill Orglan. Gach ádh oraibh, a bhuachaillí, ar an bPoc! Town League fixtures still to be played…Team A v Ardfert, Na Gaeil and Cnoc na hEaglaise; Foireann B v Ballymac and the Kerins-O’Rahilly and John Mitchel Clubs. Coaches: Tim McMahon, Frankie Murphy, Pa McCarthy, Séamus Bastible agus Eoghan Ó Gealbháin.
JUNIORS: Junior action! The Rock juniors had a good workout last weekend in Uíbh Ráthach and are looking forward to their next encounter! Gach dea-ghuí ar Aidan, Tim, Frankie and ar pheileadóirí sóisearacha na Carraige.
