THE GREEN CBS:
(i) Our sympathies to The Green boys…hurlers and footballers! It was a tough week for them in
both the Hogan Cup (U19 All-Ireland Football) and the Buggy Cup (U19 All-Ireland B Hurling) competitions.
‘Indeed,’ said a member of the school staff who has been very involved with Green teams for many years,
‘we can say in truth that the journey was awesome and that everything was left on the Croke Park pitch on Tuesday and
on the Manorfield pitch, in Kinnegad, on Saturday. These boys did their families, mentors,
clubs, school, town and county proud! To reach TWO U19 All-Irelands in TWO different
codes sa scoilbhhliain chéanna was a wonderful achievement!’
Yes, they’ve been outstanding ambassadors for school and clubs throughout this year’s
school campaigns and it must be noted that The Green has two U19 teams that are champions
of Munster and it has two prestigious cups, Corn Uí Mhuirí and Corn Mhic Cholaim, resting
on its cornchlár!! They played brilliantly in both finals but didn’t get that little extra ‘rub of
the green.’ It wasn’t from want of effort or lack of skill that they were pipped by strong
teams! And they’ve been admired and praised from a far by many aficionados of both hurling
and football! Ní raibh an t-ádh leo cé go ndearna siad a seacht ndícheall. ‘Thugadar a raibh
acu,’ mar a deir an t-amhrán. Imreoirí maithe is ea iad go léir agus feicfear iad go mion minic
sa todhchaí ar an bpáirc imeartha agus iad ag déanamh gaisce dá gclubanna. Bheadh
buachaillí na Faiche, idir iománaithe agus pheileadóirí, molta, fiú, dá mbeimis inár dtost!
A special ‘well done’ to Oliver Lata, Fionnán Ryan, Ronan Carroll and Eoin Mangan who
had the privilege of representing The Green and The Rock in the greatest stadium of all at
Jones’ Road, Dublin! (ii) On Wednesday of this week, all Blue‘n’Gold eyes turned to the
final of the U17 Kerry Dunloe Cup competition v St Brendans Killarney. And, so, the age-old
rivalry continues!

An-imirt, a bhuachaillí! (iii) Our B team that challenged Glenbeigh/Cromane: Seán Clifford,
