Club Aibhistín de Staic – Juvenile [Boys] Notes – 27/04/26

April 27, 2026 By Maurice MacNamara

PEIL FAOI 6: Our U6 Academy boys had another great outing on Sunday last in Caherslee….and again displaying great skills! Our outdoor action will continue on Sunday next, 3rd May, at 10.55am in Caherslee. Fáilte is fiche roimh chách!

PEIL FAOI 8: (i) Our UNDER 8 lads had their first GoGames session v Na Gaeil on Monday last and what an entertaining evening it was! (ii) And our U8 Academy boys had another lovely profitable session on Sunday last in Caherslee….and again displaying great Gaelic skills! Our outdoor action will continue on Sunday next, 3rd May, at 10.55am in Caherslee. Fáilte is fiche roimh chách! (Naomh Eoin Ó hÉigeartaigh)

PEIL FAOI 10: (i) On Sunday morning next (3rd May), at 10.50am, we’ll be in action once again in Caherslee. Please, más é do thoil é, bring your gum shield. Fáilte is céad roimh chách! (ii) U10 GoGames’ updates: our trip to Kilcummin has been deferred as we were clashing with a HURLING GoGames evening; next week, 6ú Bealtaine, we’ll give a céad míle fáilte, i bPáirc Uí Chonghaile (6.15pm), to the boys from Puck, Laune Rangers; ar an 20ú Bealtaine imreoimid v Ard Fhearta in Ard Fhearta; ar an 3ú Meitheamh imreoimid v An Ráth Mhór ag baile. (Colm Ó Mongáin)

CAID FAOI 11/12: We headed for Ballymac on Sunday with a large panel. We had an older group and a younger group, with a small number of lads moving between teams to balance numbers and have the best opportunities to develop players. The older group delivered a hugely impressive team performance. All 16 boys contributed, playing with great skill, strong discipline in defence and real confidence in attack. We moved the ball well, supported each other all over the pitch and took some excellent scores. It was great to see lads finishing comfortably on both left and right…an chos dheas agus an chos chlé. It was one of those days where everything clicked as a team and that collective effort was the real standout performance. For the younger group, there were very clear signs of improvement and progress. With two of the older lads coming across, the team looked far more competitive and balanced and the difference on the scoreboard was extremely narrow right to the end. More importantly, the effort, energy and togetherness shown by the lads was outstanding. Nach ar scáth a chéile a mhaireann na daoine? It’s hard not to name every boy, given the level of effort and improvement on display, but there were several outstanding performances ar an lá. Danny Smith, Tadhg Nolan and Ruairí Magnier worked tirelessly and never stopped competing. Darragh Maguire was excellent around midfield, getting on plenty ball and driving the team on, while Darragh Bowler and Donnagh Scanlan showed great determination and bravery in their play. It was also Tadhg McElligott’s first outing in goals and he pulled off some great saves, showing great confidence and courage in the position. Overall, a very positive day for both groups. The older boys showed just how strong they are as a unit, while the younger lads made a big step forward in terms of competitiveness, confidence, and belief. Plenty to be proud of and lots to build on. Yes, these young Rockites are still diligently working away on their football skills and are undoubtedly improving! A great group of enthusiastic footballers! (Colin Ó Tíocháin)

PEIL FAOI 14: On Tuesday of this week our As and Bs challenged Listowel Emmets in had-to-be-won final round games. Well played, boys! (Seanachán Magnier)

CAID FAOI 15/16: (i) ‘Well done’ to our U15 boys who won the Kerry Féile…Féile Pheil na nÓg. B’é Sé Ó hÓdhráin captaen na foirne. These fine champion footballers will represent The Kingdom of Kerry in the national finals which will take place in Derry in late June. Maith sibh, a bhuachaillí, agus go n-éirí go geal libh i nDoire Cholmcille i Mí an Mheithimh! (ii) It’s great to hear that our U16 boys, David, Mark and Jayden, are doing well on the North Kerry development panel. (Mícheál Ó hÓdhráin)

CAPTAEN NA CARRAIGE

The Austin Stack Club Under 15 captain, Shay Horan, proudly holds Corn na Féile after
his team recently won the Kerry Féile Pheil na nÓg competition. The Rock boys will travel to
Derry in June to take part in Féile Pheil na nÓg.

ROCK BOYS IN GREEN’n’GOLD

Three Austin Stack Club Under 16 footballers, David, Mark and Jayden, who have been chosen to represent
their club on the North Kerry Development Panel. An Charraig Abú!

MINORS: Our minors played their final-round game on Monday of last week v Milltown/Castlemaine and, mar thoradh ar an toradh, they have qualified for the semi-final of the Central League and that important game will take place on Monday next. Go n-éirí go geal libh, a mhionúir na Carraige! (ii) Comhghairdeachas le Paidí Ó Laighin (11) agus le hEoin Ó Mongáin (16) a d’imir le mionúir Chiarraí v Port Láirge an tseachtain seo caite. (iii) Congratulations to Eoin Mangan on his fine performance in John B. Keane’s ‘The Field.’ He played the part of ‘The Bull McCabe.’ Tá idir aisteoireacht agus pheil sa bhuachaillí cumasach seo! (Tim Mac Mathúna)

SPÓRT: AN NUACHT NÁISIÚNTA: Only a bare mention of our Kerry ladies v Waterford on Monday morning’s sports news by our ‘national broadcaster’ and much more time and coverage (scores, names, etc) given to English and Scottish football! Why? Is this usual? B’fhéidir go bhfuil, faraor! Cothrom na Féinne? Mórtas cine?

CLUB LOTTO: Thanks to all our club lotto workers, supporters and promoters. Cá ndéanfá Lotto an Chlub chun cúpla Euro a bhuachaint? Cá bhfios? Where to buy a ticket: Paudie Commane’s Bookshop, Rock Street; The Burger Shack, Monavalley; O’Flynn Interiors, Lower Rock Street; Carmel Quilter, AdeS; Kirbys’ Brogue Inn, Lower Rock Street; Husseys’ Deli, Prince’s Quay; Ollmhargadh Chaoimhín de Barra, Upper Rock Street; www.austinstacks.ie.

SEANRÁ: Ná déan dánaíocht ar an bhfarraige! Now that we’re in summertime, let’s not make bold on the sea! Be careful when swimming, playing or boating on/in the sea; please, don’t take chances!
