Club Aibhistín de Staic – JUVENILE (Boys) NOTES – 05 October

October 5, 2026 By Maurice MacNamara

PEIL FAOI 6: Our U6 and U8 boys will have more football fun on Sunday morning next, 11th October, in Caherslee. (N.Eoin Ó hÉigeartaigh)
PEIL FAOI 8: Our U8 boys had a great morning’s football in Connolly Park last Sunday against the Kerins-O’Rahilly Club boys. It was their final GoGames challenge at home. A lovely occasion! It was great to the see the improvements made by our boys since the start of the year especially the younger lads who are loving their football. Coaches: Paddy Carmody, Kevin O’Leary, Ricky Moloney, Paul Healy, Paul Walsh, Pa McCarthy, Brian O’Donoghue. More football action on Sunday next. (N.Eoin Ó hÉigeartaigh, Adrienne Mhic Lochlainn)
UNDER 9/10: (i) We hope to see all our U9s and U10s on Sunday morning next (11th) as usual. We plan to play our in-house Garry Fernane and John Galvin Cup tournaments on Sunday mornings. We hope to finish the season on Sunday 25th October (ii) Two Rock UNDER 9 teams went to the St Finbarr Club, Cork, on Saturday last (3rd) for the annual Canty Cup Blitz. Bhí an-lá acu. Yes, and our boys were Canty Cup Shield Winners. Great grit and determination was shown by both teams and our lads brought home the title. The skills and never-say-die attitude shown was a credit to all. In the final one of our teams was 0-10 down ag leatham but fought back determinedly only to lose by a mere 0-1! What an effort! Our other team won by 0-4, resulting in Luke Stack and Seán Magnier, ár mbeirt chaptaen, stepping up to receive their award. Team 1: Luke, Finn, Fiachna, Fionn McHan, Jack G, Jayce, Reece, Oisín O’S, Ace, Colin, Cillian, Leo. Team 2: Seán, Oran, Ajay, Eimhín B, Dylan, Hugh O’D, Mason, Alvin, Ruben, Jude, Éanna. It was a brilliant tournament for our boys and the journey back to Connolly Park was all the sweeter having represented the club so well on the day. Coaches: Colm Mangan, William Kirby, Mikey Collins, Mikey Barry, St John Hegarty, Liam Walsh and Ricky Moloney. (Colm Ó Mongáin, Liam Breathnach, Ricky Moloney)
PEIL FAOI 11/12: Our younger boys had a very exciting blitz trip to the Dee and Barry O’Leary Football tournament at Club na bPiarsach (Na Piarsaigh), high on the north side of Cork City, on Sunday last (4th)! What a brilliant outing! The U12 season has concluded with that annual tournament for the younger members of the squad. We faced three opponents from Cork in the group phase. First up was Inniscara and, following a closely-fought battle, our opponents won narrowly. Our second game was against Éire Óg and a great team display by the young men of The Rock brought a well-deserved victory. Our final game was against Whitechurch. Our lads gave another great display and dominated for long stretches but the game resulted in a draw. Our boys hitting the crossbar and some great defending by Whitechurch frustrated our drive for victory. As a result we finished level on points with Whitechurch and were eliminated on the scores conceded. Díomá mór! Mí-ádh mór…ní mar a shíltear a bhítear! Yes, it was a disappointing way to exit the tournament but the team can be very happy with the way they played and represented the club. And what a great outing was had by all! (Colin Ó Tíocháin)
PEIL FAOI 14: U14 are finished for 2026. What a great season of football. It was good to see so much improvement in these boys throughout the year. Mighty footballers in this group! Well done, lads! Medals for the County League B and Central League A games will be presented in the coming weeks. An occasion not to be missed, boys! (Jonathan Magnier)
PEIL FAOI 16: The U16 Town Championship opening game was played on Monday (September 28th) in Connolly Park. Our Rock boys challenged Ardfert. The result, in an exciting and high-scoring game, didn’t go our way, faraor…..5-12 to 7-11! Well done, boys! You gave your all for The Rock! (Gearóid Ó Tíocháin)
