JUNIOR B FOOTBALL:
Austin Stacks 4-18; Ballymac 0-8.
In the 6th and final round of the Town League played in Caherslee on this Tuesday evening (2nd Aug) we had a good win over Ballymac. All but three of our 22 scores came from play and eight players got on the score sheet. At half time we lead by 1-13 to 0-2. The opposition could have registered three goals in that half but for some super defending by keeper Jonathan Conway and his three front men of Shane Fitzgerald, Seamus Bastible and Padraig Lynch.
Our first half goal came after just 24 seconds by Dale Counihan following great work by John Dennis.
This was followed by some brilliant point scoring by Padraig Breen (2), Eoin Colgan (3), Joey O’Connor (3), Thomas Moore (3) and Dale Counihan (2).
Three second half goals, all scored during the third quarter, really killed off the game as a contest. These goals came from Joey O’Connor (36m), Danny Maguire (38m) and Dale Counihan (44m).
Points by Des Fitzgerald, Eoin Colgan, Joey O’Connor and two by Paddy Fitzgibbon saw us run out comfortable winners.
