All are welcome to come along to the Clubhouse tonight (Thursday 29th Dec) for the special night of celebration to mark the 20th anniversary of the Club’s first and only victory in the U21 County Championship in 2002. Twenty six players were in the squad that season, players that became household names thereafter, not alone in the Club but throughout the County and the Country as well. The management team that year was John Joe Sugrue, Jackie Power, Maurice Collins, Denny Long and Damien McLoughlin. We had comprehensive wins in the four games we played in the competition. We defeated Laune Rangers by seven points in the opening round (2-6 to 0-5), Shannon Rangers by seven in the quarter final (0-4 to 0-7), South Kerry by six in the semi final (2-13 to 2-7) and Mid Kerry by seven in the Final (0-13 to 2-0). No doubt the night will remember both Jackie and Maurice who have passed away since as well as the only player of that squad who is no longer with us, Andy McAllen.
Team: David Hennebery, Brian Phelan, TJ Hogan, Brian Dennehy, Conor Carroll, Alex Donovan, Timmy Lynch, Kieran Donaghy, Mike Finn, Mark O’Regan, Padraig Sugrue, Mikey Collins, Martin Courtney, Darragh Long, Finbarr Smith, Keith Greensmith, Nathan Crean, Andy Mc Allen, David Leonard, Jonathan Conway, David Conway, St. John Hegarty, Andrew Morrison, Alan Sheehan, Martin Moriarty and Brendan Smith.
Everyone is welcome to come along.
Adrienne has had a look through the archives and pulled a few photos from the 2002 Austin Stacks Social where the U21 team were presented with their medals.
