McCarthy Insurance Group Division 6
Austin Stacks 1-14
Milltown/Castlemaine 0-6
A strong performance from start to finish saw our B team secure a fine win in Sunday
morning in the first game of the double header in Connolly Park. The foundations of this win
were laid in defence with Ben Quilter flawless in goals and the likes of Ruairi O’Connell,
Tom McLoughlin and Pat McCarthy driving the team on throughout. The team have been
progressing week to week and although we had a disappointing result in Legion last day out it
has been very evident the improvement made. We led by 5 at the break and were completely
dominant in the second half with Padraig O’Halloran, Joe Kinsella and Cormac Bastible
catching the eye. This was a very strong overall team performance and any one of the 18
players who played on the day could be singled out for praise. Well done to team and
management, hopefully we can continue the momentum and put a few more wins on the
board as promotion is still very much on the table as that was our fourth win out of the 6
games.

AS C 1-14 Ballydonoghue B 1-4
By Tim McMahon
Our C team were in fine form in Connolly Park on Friday as they romped home to an
impressive victory over table toppers Ballydonoghue B.
Manager Aidan OConner hand was fortified with the return of Fergal Ryan and he was at
the centre of all things good for the Rock throughout. Brendan Caball set the ball rolling
early on with a fantastic two pointer to put us into an early lead. Our full back line of Jake
OConner, Tom McLoughlin and Leon Sweeney was rock solid all night with Ollie Lata
also impressive particularly on kick outs.
Aussie Ben Kichener was rewarded for his dedication since arriving with the captains
armband and he played beside the much improved Jack Barrett and Dan ORourke in the
half back line. We led at half time 0-07 to 0-2 with Ballydonoghue outfoxed time and time
again by David Courtney who contributed 0-3 with Daragh Moriarty and Ryan also
chipping in.
Early in the 2nd half we were dealt a big blow as Paul Barrrett dislocated a finger but
further experience was on hand in the form with John Murphy and John Dennis
introduced. The evergreen Pat McCarthy was yet again the engine here as he
dovetailed well with the classy Gearoid Sheehan as we responded well to a goal
concession midway through the 2nd half.
Points were added by Courtney, Sweeney, Caball and the tireless Enda Cahill before
Daragh Moriarty saw nothing but net with an accomplish finish to put us out of reach.
Daragh McGrath, Padraig Breen and Matt Browne were introduced late on as we ran out
nine point winners. We now have a break of two weeks before we play Asdee in our final
game before the split in Div 7.
