Cs go four unbeaten
By Tim McMahon
Div 7B Austin Stacks C 2-10 Keel B 1-11
Our C team went four unbeaten with a hard fought victory over Keel B in Connolly Park
on Friday night.
Our side was buoyed with the return of Richard Hurley to competitive football after a
break of eleven years and he was to the fore with notching 1-1 in the opening half.
Wayne Guthrie too return to the fold for a commanding role between the sticks that
gave our full back line of Ciaran Kavanagh, Jack Barrett and Jack Doyle solidity
throughout. We led 1-4 to 0-3 at ht with 0-4 from the impressive Gearoid Sheehan.
Into the 2nd half and we hit the ground running following the inspiration words from
gaffer Aidan OConner. Lucid Inc, Dave and Paddy were running things at midfield and
we amassed 1-5 in the opening 17mins to put us seemingly out of reach with the
rampant Pat McCarthy getting our other goal. Ben Kitchener, Daragh Moriarty and others
from Gearoid Sheehan getting our scores.
Keel to their credit responded to narrow the gap to two down the stretch but we had
done enough to run our two point winners.
Our next game is away to Currow B in two weeks
