Juvenile (Boys) Club Notes 4th July, 2023.

July 4, 2023 By Brian Caball

CÚL CAMP: This week’s Kerry Cúl Camp in Connolly Park (July 3rd~7th) is being well attended and is being enjoyed by all.

PEIL
FAOI 7: (i) Football as usual next Sunday morning (9ú Iúil) in Caherslee at 11am. Fáilte is fiche roimh pheileadóirí nua. (ii) Great football was played once again at 5.30pm on Thursday last.

PEIL FAOI 9: (i) We welcomed Listowel Emmets to Caherslee last Sunday morning for some tremendous games that were played in great spirit. Everybody had fun! (ii) We have two more games left in the GoGames series and they are v Castleisland Desmonds and v St Seanans. (iii) No…no…no Thursday night training this week because the Cúl Camp is taking place in Connolly Park. (iv) We’ll be back in action in Connolly Park next Sunday (9ú Iúil) at 11am.

ALL-STARS
: All went well for our ALL-STARS on Sunday morning last. We began with our usual warm up….high knees, walking and jumping jacks….to get the show on the road. Then we worked on our listening, watching and imitating skills….social games, e.g. Simon Says. The lads were brilliant even though we had increased the difficulty level! Richie’s football skills’ session was enjoyed by everyone. Indeed, progress is being made! Of course, the obstacle course was really enjoyed. Well done, everybody! Parents/Guardians, feel free to bring your young ALL-STAR along to The Rock, Connolly Park, on Sunday next (9th July). (Cathal Ó Sé)

PEIL FAOI 10/11: (i) More Football-For-Fun at 10.50am next Sunday (9ú Iúil) i gCathair Sailí. Fáilte roimh bhuachaillí nua. (ii) Over a dozen U11 Rock boys will have the opportunity of playing in the Munster U11 Football Blitz in FITZGERALD STADIUM on Tuesday 18th July. Wow! Our lads will be in action at 1pm and will play three short games. Our opposition will be Abhainn a’Scáil, BK Plunketts and Moyvane. The day will also include a stadium tour.

PEIL FAOI 13: (i) Our Central League (Réigiún Láir) training takes place on Tuesdays from 5pm to 6.30pm and on Thursdays from 6.30pm to 8pm. Hard work at these sessions will ensure that we’ll be among the very best in the league. As further preparation for our upcoming important competitive matches we played Baile an Chollaigh, Cork, on Sunday last (2nd July) in Connolly Par. Well done, boys, and a very special bualadh bos for our U11 ‘young guns.’ Thanks to all the parents who helped with the setting up of the pitches, who took photos and who, at the end of the day’s proceedings, served refreshments and food in the clubhouse….a great team effort on and off the field! (ii) The Central League has been scheduled to start on Sunday next (9th July). We await details on these fixtures. Our A team is in Division 1 with Na Mistéalaigh, Na Gaeil and Ard Fhearta. Our B team is in Division 6 with Na Gaeil B, Milltown/Castlemaine B and Glenbeigh/Glencar/Cromane B. Good luck to all! (iii) Our B team Town League game v the Kerins-O’Rahilly Club Bs that was scheduled for this weekend has been POSTPONED because of the commencement of the Central League. (Dan Ahern)

PEIL FAOI 15
: (i) On Wednesday evening June 28th we hosted Na Gaeil in the opening round of Division 1 of the Central League (Réigiún Chiarraí Láir). A good strong performance by our lads ensured that we got the win….a very encouraging result considering that we brought in some of our younger players for this game. Our boys played really well! Mo cheol sibh, a bhuachaillí! (ii) We had good training sessions over the weekend in preparation for this week’s two away Central League games. The Ballymac boys have been scheduled as the opposition for our A team on Wednesday evening and for our Division 5 team on Friday evening. An Charraig go deo! (Ger Hobbert)

CIARRAÍ: (i) ‘Well done’ to foireann shinsearach na bhfear v Tír Eoghain. Go n-éirí leo v Doire sa chluiche ceathrú ceannais. (ii) ‘Well done’ to foireann shinsearach na mban (agus go speisialta le hAoife Ní Dhuilleáin) v An Cabhán i bPáirc Aibhistín de Staic. Go n-éirí leo v An Mhí sa chluiche leathcheannais.

HANDBALL: Should GAA clubs have ONE-WALL alleys to encourage individual youngsters to take up handball. Players could play liathróid láimhe, in competition, on their own (singles) or in pairs. Handball could provide the opportunity for GAA boys and girls to play internationally. Handball complements hurling and football and is good for general fitnessan. Many top-class players in both codes excelled at handball when younger; Kerry players Tomás Ó Súilleabháin, B.Ó Beaglaoish and Louise Ní Mhuircheartaigh were excellent at handball. Handball is just another part of the GAA!
