Austin Stacks Ladies celebrated the 40th anniversary of their 1977 Co. Championship win over Castleisland Desmonds at a function in Connolly Park on Saturday 30th September. Most of the team were in attendance for the buffet meal and medal presentation which was organised in the main by Ann O’Callaghan Eager and Noreen Power. (The idea for the reunion was suggested by Anne Naughton Slattery, a player of that team of 1977.)
Chairman of the Kerry Ladies Board back in 1977 was Mick Fitzgerald from Castleisland, and he presented the players with their commemorative medals. The trainer of the Austin Stacks Ladies team, the late Moss Carroll, was represented by his son, Kevin Carroll. Club Chairman, Liam Lynch and Ladies Chairperson, Noreen Power gave fitting speeches, and Ann Eager regaled the 1977 team with her memories of the individual players characteristics and football prowess, to the enjoyment of all present.
A night of reminiscing continued, with music provided by the D.J. Francie Breen. Many thanks to the hospitality committee for superb food and refreshments.
