Dingle 3-12 Austin Stacks 1-15
Our under 16s went down narrowly in Dingle on Friday following a great display that will give them great heart as we enter the concluding stages of this competition. The game was lost on the consession of three first half goals and we went in at half time nine points down. However we attacked with menance throughout the first half with Conor Jordan at full-forward causing the Dingle reargaurd problems supported by the flying Éamonn McAllen and Greg Horan at midfield. Kyle Fitzgibbon was flawless with the frees throughout alongside Breandán Caball at centre forward who had perhaps his best game ever for the Rock. After the break we totally dominated proceedings with keeper Brian Horgan redundant and Tommy Nicholson, Barry Walsh and Shane Greensmyth well on top in the full-back line. Dylan Harnett and Eoghan McKivergan ran Dingle ragged all night from wing back, while Joseph O’Kelly was rock solid at centre half back. James Galvin and Ciarán Flanagan worked tirelessly for the cause throughout and Richard Hurley and Adam Barrett, when introduced, played their part also. A goal from Conor with seven minutes left set up a grandstand finish but Dingle held out for a narrow three point win. We now play Keirns-O’Rahillys and Legion in our final two games and two wins will see us qualify for the semi-finals of this competition.
