Semi-finals and finals for Div 1 of this year’s Boys Feile competition were contested at Connolly Park on Saturday 21st April. Referees on the day were George O’Donnell and Billy Lacey, with George also on duty for the final. Austin Stacks were narrowly defeated on the main pitch in their semi by Glenflesk, 2-4 to 2-8. In the other semi played on the Nuns Field, Laune Rangers emerged victorious over a gallant Ballymacelligott side, 4-8 to 2-6.
Getting to this stage of the tournament with such a young squad is a truly marvellous achievement and great credit is due to the entire squad for the effort given. Keep up the good work, gentlemen, and remember that we’re one of the top four teams in the county. Well done, all!
In the final played on the main pitch, Laune Rangers led at half-time with a strong wind at their backs, 2-6 to 0-3 against Glenflesk. Despite a comeback by Glenflesk, Laune Rangers ran out impressive winners, 5-8 to 3-4 and will now represent Kerry, with their competition taking place in Co. Derry. We wish them good luck and an enjoyable experience.
